I have had some work done to an inexpensive auto handgun with fixed sights so I can install a small fiber optic shotgun sight on it.
The sight is threaded and when it's screwed snug into the threads on the slide it's not straight. It's tight enough that it would break the sight off in the hole if tightened too much. If it's backed out enough to be straight then it's way too loose even if I use Loctite.

How can I get the sight on straight and tight without breaking it off? Is there a tool to remove some material from the bottom of the sight?

Thanks

Yes.
It's called a file.

A set of fine-cut needle files to be more exact.

Alternetly, you might drill a hole in a steel plate for the stud, lay a sheet of black 240 emery paper on it, and press the stud through the paper.

Then just twist the sight back & forth to sand the bottom off evenly.
