I wanted to remind everyone about this. It is for a good cause and I believe it needs a bump, and remember if you havent bought your tickets yet you can do it before the afternoon on the 4th!!!

Winner will be drawn at lunch time on Saturday at our annual Machine Gun Shoot.

Just called and bought some tickets. This is a great idea to support an important cause. My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer in May, she had to have surgery and she just finished chemo a couple of weeks ago.

My wife manages the radiology dept of the hospital we work at. She says that if we win she'll put the gun on display in the Women's Center, which is where the mammography suite is, for the rest of the month (October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month). That should raise some eyebrows - the hospital's new weapon in the fight against breast cancer!!:what:

It's a great thing you're doing, and I hope you raise lots of money.

I hope you'll forgive a minor thread hijack ...

How come we don't do something similar for prostate cancer?
Prostate cancer is the #2 cancer killer of men. It hits about the same number of men as breast cancer does women (but gets less than 1/4 of the research funding)

And I'll bet with the demographics of folks that own a few firearms, a great deal of them are men over 45.

If anyone is interested in taking this further, PM me, or let's start a new thread.

Dave.
One year ago today I had surgery for prostate cancer. The cancer is gone, but it's been a tough recovery.

Not as easy to sell charitable organizations.

Thanks for your support guys. We raised about $3000 that will be going out American Cancer Soc. ASAP.

Back from the shoot. It was a very very very WET shoot. It was kinda like Noah's flood, only with machine guns.

The winner was Bo Smith from Utah. The phone number on his ticket was wrong, but we know who he is. He doesn't know that he's won yet though. :)

Like Smithy said, we raised over $3,000. We need to do a final tally with the stuff that came in at the last minute, but not bad at all!

Thats great. Sorry to hear it rained on y'all. 3,000 is not bad. I donated 2 times yesterday to Breast Cancer Awareness. I didn't see this thread till today. I appoligize. No one in my family has had breast cancer. But to all those who have recovered y'all are troopers. I personally have had 5 scares but I know thats not the same. God Bless y'all.

I wish I had seen this in time. Of course, I cannot be seen at the range (or holding a BG at bay) with a pink AR, but I have a close friend who is a cancer survivor who I'm sure would love it. :)
