I run 40gr roundnose MiniMags in my match gun, Marvel 1911 conversion kit, and in my training guns. So, I shoot a lot of it.

By getting to Academy and Gander for months two hours before the doors open and by swapping and trading other bulk .22 ammo, I'm finally stocked up to where I was two years ago when CCI MiniMags were plentiful.

And it feels good. I shot 100rnds today at the range.

Last Saturday, Gander got thirty 1600 round cans in stock (like the good old days) and I MISSED THEM.

By Tuesday I was able to trade bulk boxes of Golden Bullets for a can of CCI.

A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.:)

The day when there sitting on top of the shelf is a good day havent seen anything like that lately.

I got 2 bricks of Fed Lightning at my local Wally World for $24.95 each but no Mini-Mags. No crowds or lines.

Things seem to be getting better. I was in the local Sportsmans Warehouse Wednesday and they had plenty of primers in all flavors. No powder and a very few bullets. As I recall, last year, you couldn't find primers for love nor money. Maybe next year we'll have plenty of primers and bullets and by 2015 things will be back to "normal."

But.... Does this not add to the problems? Guys see .22 on the shelf and lose their minds!

They feel the need to buy more then one brick at a time and walk out with at least a case! That's why I think its a good idea for stores to place limits on how many people can buy. That way more people can get some ammo and be able to shoot.

At least it's making its way back onto dealers shelves and the 3 box limit has now been raised to 5 so there has to be more in stock finally.

I've got to admit I just haven't been shooting mine. That's why I have some, mostly from just after the 2009 fleecing.
But I damn sure haven't been standing in any lines either.

In Finland there never was an ammo shortage.
Cash shortage, yes - ammo shortage, no.

I try to keep a minimum of 2000 rounds of .22lr in the cabinet.

Before this last ammo crunch,,,

Before this last ammo crunch I walked into Wal Mart,,,
And saw a Plano ammo can full of CCI Mini-Mags.

1,600 rounds for $109.95,,,
I bought two cans but haven't seen them for sale since then.

I am being very miserly with that ammo,,,
Two of my favorite pistols won't run anything else.

I'm not hurting at all for rimfire ammo,,,
I started stocking up after O'Bummer's first inauguration,,,
I often pass on individual boxes but I'll never pass on a chance for mini-mags.

Dick's Sporting Goods just opened a new store here in town.
So an old friend called me this evening to say he finally got some .22 ammo.

He said he went at 7:30 this morning, and there were already 14 people ahead of him in line, some camped out overnight.

Then he said he was able to buy one box of .22 ammo before they ran out.
So, says I, seems like a lot of trouble for one box of ammo.

But says he, it was a black Plano ammo box with 2,000 rounds of Winchester T22 in it!

$130, with a 10% off coupon!
So, $117.

What a deal in this day & age!

The passage of time and one man's ceiling

You only have 3800 rounds!?

One mans ceiling, , , ,,

be safe

lol

When I was 15 I'd buy 22LR hunting ammo a box or two at a time.
Three years later I stumbled onto a going out of business sale and bought 20 boxes (1000rds).

Six years ago I got back into shooting 22LR, buying a brick or three at a time.

Last winter I picked up a case for $250.

A brick of Federal Champs was $11 shooting Bullseye in the 1970's.
Now it costs $11 for the gas to go find a box of 50 or two.

It is a good feeling to own shoot and reload for my Hornet. A little over 650 reloads to one pound of powder. The only disadvantage which I can think of is the inability to use it in my 10 22. Sometimes I still like to rip off a couple of mags as fast as I can. :). Reloading is a good skill to posess at this time. If I cannot shoot my 22 revolver as much as I like, there is always my 38.

Old school Federal 711. Still have 2 bricks from 1989. Price on it is $18.50.

The new loading is 711b and is called Gold Medal Match. Good stuff, more accurate than the old school Federal Champion Standard Velocity. It was running $36/brick 2 or 3 years ago when you could still get it.

Just picked up 500 30 grain Barnes bullets for $100. So that's $12.00/50 loaded with premium bullets.
