Does anyone have any experience with this ammo? I stopped in a local shop yesterday looking for a variety of ammo to run through a soon-to-be aquired 1911, and grabbed a box of this stuff for $12.50 for a 50 round box. I also got a box of the regular Fiocchi 230 gr. FMJ for $9.50/box.

Any comments or experiences are welcome.

I never used their pistol ammo, but I have used Fiocchi shotshells. The rounds were okay at best. They didn't pattern well and the shot would somtimes stick in the wads. I thought the quality was too poor to be a repeat buyer. For a 45 as a defence weapon, I would not bet my life on it.

...minimal experience here. I bought two boxes last week at $16.95 each...yikes!

I shot both boxes of them in two different Colt 1911's (Gvn't Model & Commander) and a pre-series Kimber Custom 1911. They fed fine in those three guns using Wilson 47D and Chip McCormick Power Mags.

Accuracy was as good as Federal American Eagle and PMC 230 Ball. It may have been my imagination, but they seemed to smack my hand a little harder than the Federal and PMC...perhaps that was "recoil" from the price I paid.

I have had good experience with the Fiocchi 230gr jhp in the BLUE box. I have not tried any in the maroon box.
They seem a little warm, feed in everything I tried. (Several 1911's, Glocks, Taurus, etc)
I think that if you have a gun that chokes on hollow points in general then these might work.

They go boom. I've shot them before, but I can't attest to accuracy, as I'm naturally a poor shot.

I never had any problems with either one, in several different brand pistols. It's probably as good as most. I little hot however.

Good ammo and if you reload the brass will be around for a long time. Have some I can hardly read the headstamp on them and they continue to go bang with each reload.

Take Care

Just to clarify, the JHP is in the BLUE box, the FMJ is in the maroon box.

I've shot the maroon boxed stuff in .38 Special, .357 Magnum, 9mm and 40 S&W, and always liked it. I'd just never seen any results or opinions on the JHP stuff, and wondered what everyone here thought.

I plan on doing some informal milk jug assasination attempts this weekend, and will post what I find.

...not necessarily I suppose. All three boxes of Hollow Points I've bought are in the burgandy box. I bought this box yesterday and just took the pics.

The box reads Full Metal Jacket Hollow Point 230 gr on the top, and 45 ACP FMJHP 230gr on the end flaps.

I tried a half dozen different self defense rounds and settled on the Fiocchi 200 gr. JHP for my lightweight .45's. I've found these rounds to be accurate and reliable.
