I'm in need of an extractor and extractor spring for a M-43 Firestar. Numrich Gun Parts Corp doesn't have any and don't see any in the future. Are there other parts outlets that may have these parts?

Try star-firearms.com . They had some listings for parts. Star went out of business 10 years ago. I'll probably have to chuck mine when it breaks. Good luck with the search. Let me know if you have any luck.

Bushmaster, I had to replace an extractor on a M43 that I had. Look carefully for contact between the extractor and the bottom of the extractor notch in the barrel.Had to lower the bottom of the notch on mine .007" to eliminate contact.
Ran flawless afterwards, but I sold it because of loss of confidence. Still kicking myself 7 years later. :banghead:

N.M. Edmonds...Thanks. I checked for that on mine and I seem to have more then enough clearance. My poblem was that the extractor would let go of the fired case before it was completely extracted from the chamber and would never make contact with the ejector. I would have a fired case hung up just above the next round in the magazine. Leaving the slide partially open.

I've had this Firestar sense 1992 and it has operated flawlessly all this time until this problem showed up about two months ago. Found the extractor pivit pin hole enlarged from wear and replaced the extractor, pin and spring. Problem still exists, but not as bad...:banghead:

I like this little 9mmX19 and would like to be able to return it to full operation...

If I remember correctly, on my replacement extractor I had to remove a little metal in the area where the extractor contacts the slide and limits the depth into the chamber. The case should be held lightly by pressure against the rim behind the claw. Picture pinching case to side of breech face/slide. Light contact to the breech face / no contact tip of claw to groove.

Line rider...Bob has Star parts, but no Firestar parts...

N.M. Edmands...I'll have to look into that. That could be just the fix...

You might want to check with Legacy INT Firearms in Reno Nevada.
They currently sell Howa rifles and such, but there roots are Interarms
10 Prince street, Alexandria Va. They were the guys responcible for bringing most of the Firestar line up to the USA. Maybe they can lead you to the people that did the warranty work.

I found nothing wrong with the new extractor. It is contacting the case groove 100%. For some reason the extractor releases the case prematurely before the case head contacts the ejector leaving the fired case just above the fresh round jaming the slide about 3/4 of the way open. Still working with it. Thought that the fired case might be catching on the mouth of the fresh round on its way back, but that wasn't the case. Still trying to figure it out.

Gundogg2...Legacy INT have no Firestar parts anymore...But thanks...

I guess I was lucky, I just bought a M-243 Firestar Plus 9mm in Starvel finish. I paid $220 for it in about 90% condition. I'm looking for a .40 S&W barrel and slide, preferably Starvel but will consider blue. Can anyone help me out? I've checked with everyone I can think of and nobody has what I want. Sarco has an ad in the Shotgun News stating that they have some Star parts but when I called, their selection was limited. They may have what you need.
If anyone can put me on a barrel and slide E-mail me at [email protected]
Thanks

Don357, I had an M40 back in the 90s that I sold when it broke and needed a gunsmith to fabricate the replacement part... I didn't know that you could put an m40 slide on an m43.

I have frequently wished that I had bought a 9mm instead of a .40, as I really liked the little guy, and think it would have lasted longer.

Contact "Star" on the Spanish pistol forum on gunboards.com. He is located in Spain and has access to all Star parts. I and many forum members there have bought Star parts from him. The only thing he will not ship is frames, slides and barrels.
