First it was AR mags, now pistol mags?

I am not a panic buyer. Haven't bought much in this recent craze. I thought I had enough pistol magazines but I'd like a few more than enough. I see they are now very difficult to find and going for $100 a piece now.

When did this happen? Was I so busy shaking my head at the pmag auctions that I didn't see the pistol magazine prices skyrocket as well?

So do I buy a few at now $100 a mag or wait until the price comes down?

Are people that sure of a "high capacity" ban now?

I'm really glad I'm not in bad shape...but see now that having a few more pistol mags would be nice. Perhaps I can sell/trade some AR mags.

Its been happening at the same time... big difference is a lot of handgun mags were already pricey to begin with.

Ive got one handgun that the mags are 70-100.00 IFFFFFFFFFFF you can find them and they only hold 8rds... Others I own also cost over 50 bucks a pop to replace.

A little different when a mag that normally sells for 9-15 bucks goes for 40-100.

Thats nothing new, and the places where mags are still reasonably priced are on backorder. I ordered two promags for my XD from Bass Proshops on Dec. 30th, and I will be shocked if they get here before March.

Yup, try finding CZ75 P07 mags right now...very hard even if you are willing to pay.

This thread has good timing because I was just thinking about this last night. I was actually able to do some online shopping and get lucky on some prices for 4 extra 13rd beretta 92 compact mags in great shape for $25-35 a piece which isn't bad even for pre-panic prices. My new dilemma is that I just recently purchased a new sig p220 elite dark which only comes with two mags and even pre panic those sig mags were really expensive but in this market they are way out of my league. I figure the sig mags are only 8 rounders so even if a fed magazine ban gets passed my sig mags should be in the clear so at this point I'm just gonna wait for the madness to pass and hopefully find new p220 mags for under $90(insert sarcasm here). It seems though as much as I try to fight the urge to panic buy I will always hear some comment that makes me rethink waiting out the madness and buying a couple extra sig mags at inflated prices but who knows? One thing I do know is that I'm about sick of it all and ready for some type of normalcy to return to the hobby I love.

It seems like we are going to be in a perpetual 2-3 year cycle of panic buying and shortages. It's really frustrating. AND, it's affecting everything, even powder and primers and other reloading supplies. Just crazy.

Almost makes me want to do something else for fun. Almost....

Considering a federal ban would likely be on magazines over 10 rounds, people want to stock up on magazines for all of their pistols that are either double-stack 9s and 40s or double-stack full-size 45s.

Thats what's odd too... With exception 1911's, single stacks are also vanishing.

I didn't see the panic due to shootings happening, but I saw the panic due to Obama happen (I knew in my heart he would be re-elected)...and stocked up on Glock magazines back in August

People are coming up with any reason to justify any panic buying on any shooting item at this point. Mags that hold less than 10 rounds are gone, too. Reloading supplies, gone. 22 LR, none to be found. Bricks of it on GB for $100. The dead rising from the grave, human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria!

I've been trying to find the extended mag for my new p238, and that has proven to be comedic now. Can't find them anywhere, unless I want to spend $70 on eBay

I got really lucky and my friend found some 15 round mags for my p89 at one of the big chain stores down in alabama, he's coming up here this weekend for a get together so he's bringing them along. They were even normally priced. I had just gotten that gun before this mess started and have been having a heck of a time finding some mags for it.

I consider myself lucky although it would have been a matter of time before I found some that weren't a hundred bucks each.

Panic buying is a good word, but so is Greed. People freak out and want to make sure that they have more than they need, leaving others without. Seeing this happen has really driven home the thought of "what if something really bad happens?" if people are hoarding and price jacking over something imagined, what would happen in social collapse with bread lines and rations or worse? It's a pretty ugly picture of society, at least to me it is.
