About a year ago I bought my first gun,(besides the bb gun and 10/22 my father had bought me) a WASR 10. And now I'm facing a huge urge to buy an AR-15. I'm a very poor college student, working to pay rent and food, and i just realized I still owe $350 for tuition this semester. Anyway I was considering buying the Del-Ton from AIM surplus, but its currently out of stock, which is giving me some time to think about this purchase, and the longer i wait i'm thinking about the increase in price that it will bring. If I bought the gun now, I could pay it off within 2 months, but i'm wondering what others opinions are on prices. With the swarm of people buying guns, do you guys think the price will eventually settle down to earlier prices, or will it keep rising/ stay at that higher price until a possible ban? The price of $660 is pretty appealing, even if its an the bottom rung as far as ARs go. So what do you guys see as far as prices go a month from now, 4 months from now?

Its a commodity market being drive by fear the jerk will accomplish what he told us he wanted to do, along with the same socialist attitudes that control Congress.
During the last ban, magazines went up more than guns, lowers carried a premium, not all parts.
If you can swing it, consider buying just a lower - its the serial numbered part - and some magazines. A majority of the other parts should still be available even if they do get something past.

Good luck, many places are admitting the wait is 6 months. Some think its better to be on the list than miss the boat.

I picked up a stripped dpms lower at the gun show this Saturday. I would have loved to get a whole rifle but I figure that at least owning the lower will most likely grandfather me in if things go south fast. Time will tell

And i guess while i'm at it, does anyone know of a better deal than what AIMsurplus has for a cheap AR? Although I wish I could afford it, I can't go over the $800 range.

Buy a rifle kit from Del-Ton (del-ton.com) in whatever flavor you like, and then buy a stripped lower locally for $100-125, assuming prices are still holding. Build the lower and snap it and the upper together. Voila, complete gun for about $650.

Which is probably the only way you're going to find an AR for under $800 anytime soon without having to wait six months to get bumped to the top of a waiting list anyway. The time to buy cheap EBRs was two weeks ago. Heck, the time to buy EBRs period was two weeks ago...

I believe olympic arms had a plinker for around $569 but they may have gone up too. It is a base AR, nothing fancy. It doesn't even have the chrome lined barrel.

i personally think that after all the knee-jerk reaction by everyone that we will see the pricing relax a little.

it happened before with the previous awb and i think we will see it again. never know though, just my opinion. i think any ar will cost more 6 weeks from now than it will 6 months from now.
