First time hatcam

OK ... I just can't with good conscience sit by and watch all of these cool videos! I am throwing my hat in the ring so here are my first go at hatcam stuff! This was an IDPA match this past Sunday at RiverCity Shooters in San Antonio, TX

Yar - how do you get the picture to post like you did?

FYI - the hat cam for 4 of the 5 stages was attached to the underside of the bill of my hat & the other one (stage 3 I think) was inside of my earmuff. I am using a boostervision wireless camera with the receiver hooked up to a canon elura 100 all powered by a battery & power inverter attached. www.boostervision.com

In regards to the interference... this was my first go at it & I didn't think about the need for LOS between camera & receiver... also working with Art the guy from BV to improve quality (really to correct my technique) ENJOY!

That's the code. You'll need to replace the { } with [ ]. Also replace your video and your image with the full url of your video and image. Your video software should have a image capture feature. Advance to the frame and capture the image you want.

Since your using youtube depending on the forum your posting in you can just copy and paste their imbed code. Don't really mess with that myself as I only use yourtube as a option for those that want it. Youtube really butches my video quality.

Good videos and shooting btw. video quality could be better but that is probably youtubes fault.

I use hostmonster to host my website. That's where I'm running my videos. It's $5.99/month you get like 300gb of storage, all kinds of bandwidth, one domain name included. Blah blah blah. REally good deal.

I'm pushing 60gb/month with my videos. Pretty good considering it's not porn.

DrKyle, one thing I might not have mentioned is that I also purchased the high gain antenna (below), as I use mine for other hobbies. It works much better than the little whip antenna both in the air and on the ground (try it clocked both ways a see which one works best). How about some photos of your setup.

Thanks JM I will work on getting pics of my set-up... I was wondering about the high gain antenna... does that eliminate the need for LOS? That is the biggest thing w/my videos... or the reason for most of the interference & lost frames. I didn't even think about the need for line-of-sight & had the receiver in my range bag... in no particular order! I also noticed that when the camera was inside of the ear muffs there was little to no over modulation from the high decibels of the gun firing showing up so with the recommendation of Art from BV I have cut & tapped some squishy ear plugs & put them over the mic area of the camera. I will see if that helps but still allowing for audio. I don't want to cut it out entirely just modulate it a bit.

With most all RF devices you are going to need line of sight for them to work (some of the longer wave lengths are said to “bend” with the atmosphere). The high gain antenna just allows for more distance between the receiver and antenna; however, if you think of the reception area from the transmitter as a V shape from the receivers point of view, the more distance between the two the less directional you need to be until you reach the end limit (as it’s really a sector thus arched at the outside).
