So my boss was selling a sporterized 7mm mauser for 250. I know the sporterized aren't in high demand and offered him 200. He bit so I bought it. It came with an old Weaver kv scope that I liked too. Upon looking at it, I noticed the barrel was marked Flaig's "ACE" 7mm. Doing some research, I learned Flaigs was a mail-order custom shop around the 50's to the 70's, being shut down in 68 due to the GCA. I don't believe the rifle is one of there custom ones, just a customer rebarrel. I'm assuming it has the Douglas barrel and also has a Bishop stock. I'll learn how to post pics soon, but was wondering what its worth in today's market. The bore is mirror clean but the bluing is freckling. Thanx.

It is as good as it will shoot.

The Flaig barrels have a good reputation. If it shoots well it will be a useful tool. There is not anything wrong with 7mm, it will do a lot. The Weaver scopes were the most common of all when the rifle was re-barreled, and have reputation of working well. Most Weaver scopes from the era do not have a bright field now compared to what is currently available.

As for value it is always in the eyes of the beholder. Some paper targets showing tight groups would help the sale.

Weaver kv scope
You might want to start saving up to replace that one right there.

The KV was Weavers first feeble attempt at a variable scope.

My experience with them 40+ years ago is, they will not hold zero when changing power settings.

Flaigs work is legendary here around Pgh. A friend has an 03 that was done back in the 60's and it is beautiful.
