OK HELP ME. IF THIS WAS YOUR GUN, WHERE WOULD YOU GO BUY THE BEST HI-CAP MAGS AS OF TODAY? ALSO, CAN IT TAKE HIGHER THAN 13 ROUNDERS AND STILL FIT FLUSH TO THE BUTT OF THE GUN?

Mec-Gar makes flush fitting 15 rounders that are supposed to be very nice. I believe they are making them available to the US Market as soon as possible.

The KRD South African Mags are very reliable and hold 17 (if your thumb is strong enough!). But the mag is SLIGHTLY larger around and fits VERY snuggly in the mag well and in most mag pouches. It does not extend down much more (if any) than the mag in the pic you posted.

KRD extends quite a bit below what is pictured.
Mec-gar 15-round magazines are the best you're gonna get and have it be flush with the bottom of the frame (or as flush as you can get with BHP mags). Mec-gar will hopefully make them and their 13-rd magazines available soon...

Pistol magazines are normally made up of a magazine tube, or housing, with a follower, spring, floorplate and floorplate holder. In the conventional design of a magazine, the presence of the follower and spring of the known shape and design, requiring space to be fully compressed when the magazine is fully loaded, normally reduces the actual capacity of the magazine. Such conventional magazines, with the same dimensions and under the same conditions, cannot contain more than a set amount of ammunition. For example the standard tube, follower and spring dimensions of Beretta 92FS magazine create a capacity of 15 rounds.
Edoardo Racheli realized that there is a need by firearm owners for their pistols to be provided with increased firing power with respect to the size of the conventional pistol magazine.
On February 7, 1995, MEC-GAR was awarded United States patent 5,386,657 which increases the capacity of a pistol magazine while maintaining the same overall outside dimensions of conventional magazines.
The patent is in an improved spring a follower design to better use the magazines internal ammunition space. The upper coils of the magazine spring are tighter than the bottom coils and the follower has a recessed cavity on the bottom. After the standard amount of ammunition is inserted into the magazine, the upper coils of the spring will compress into the recessed cavity under the follower allowing two additional rounds of ammunition to be inserted into the magazine.
You can now use a higher capacity magazine in your pistol which is truly flush fitting by retaining the original magazine dimensions and offers absolute reliable loading of the magazine and positive feeding.

Mec-Gar. If they are so accomodating as to make 13 rounders available soon I will lay in a few more. I have had very good luck with them. Might as well show my appreciation by giving them some patronage.

the KRD mags will, indeed, stick out more from the frame than a standard mag.
What would I buy right now? Nothing. I'd let prices stablize a bit before I bite at anything. I have a bunch of KRD mags (six?), three OEM (Mec-Gar), and two Inglis. All work flawlessly.
