Very long DA trigger pull, shoots everything...sounds like a Ruger P-90 .

I really like the trigger on my FNP-9M, it's very smooth, doesn't feel that long to me.

Mine's one of my most satisfying purchases. I absolutely love it. Nothing bad to say. Billet stainless slide, hammer forged barrel and 100% conceived, manufactured and assembled in the USA! It's too bad Springfield, Taurus, etc. can't say the same. It's sad when a Belgian company does more for our country than our own companies do.

Is this the same pistol Browning sold/sells?

Friend just swapped a .270 for a new browning in the box. He called to ask if it was a good deal? He also said they are sold now as FNs, is this true?

I'm just ignorant on these 2 brands of pistols.

the fnp 9 is the same , mostly as the browning.
the fnp45 is a bigger platform, I dont think theres a browning equivelant.
heres mine with a sig 229 for comparison

May be dumb questions, but here goes. I'm looking at the specs. on the FNP-45 USG. The barrel length, overall length and the weight are all the same on both the 10 round mag. capacity model and the 15/14 mag. capacity model. Why wouldn't the 10 round either be a bit smaller or lighter? If they are the same, why are there two separate models? Which is preferable?

They may have quoted the weight "unloaded" which would mean you are comparing the weight in the same gun just the difference of an empty High-cap mag vs empty CA legal mag. Most of the time, CA Legal or High cap, the mag is same physical size too so their may be none if any difference in weight.

I can tell you 15rds of .45 is heavy relatively speaking. You will obviously notice a big difference from a dry FN45 and a topped of 15rd FN45!

The weapon itself looks to be well made. I handled some at the shot show. They are still quite big IMO for a handgun but if it's going on your nightstand....who cares.

I have asked people I respect about their pistols - and the consensus is that FN is known to makes fantastic "Rifles". There pistols look to be made of equal quality....I'm sure time will tell.

Difference is solely in the magazine, the gun itself is the identical. And the gun itself will work happily with 10rnd mags, 14rnd mags or 15 rnd mags. Just in places like CA, it can only be marketed with 10rnd mags, so they have to offer that as an option to meet state legal restrictions.

Look on sites like Davidson's galleryofguns and you'll see it all the time - exact same gun but listed twice, once for the full capacity magazines, and again for the 10rnd limited cap mags. Guns are still the same (nobody is actually going to make and ship two completely different gun models just because some places restric magazine capacity).

Rifles? FN is best known for making the Browning High Power and the Browning Superposed. And maybe the Auto 22 and BAR sporting rifle. I suppose it depends on which generation the person is from as to what they associate with the name FN.

My Winchester Super X-2 was made by FN in Belgium. That's my newest FN. The military gets all of the fancy new stuff and full auto guns.

The group I discussed FN with is active military. One helped develop the scar and the rifle pictured below:

Anyone with small hands own one? Im really lookin hard at them but havnt had the chance to handle one yet. Any input is appreciated.

I have small hands and own a FNP-45USG. Hand measurement 7.5" from wrist to tip of middle finger.

FNP45 was purchased in November 2009. Has 500 rounds through it now. Just a few problems failing to completely return to battery with 200 gr. swc reloads. Problem solved by polishing chamber. Chamber miked out smaller than my Kimber match pistol.

Pistol is comfortable even with small hands, using the flat back strap. It is a hand full, compared to a 1911, but is comfortable. The textured grip helps.

COMPARED TO A 1911
SA trigger pull takes a little to get used to after a 1911, but once getting used to "pressing" the trigger as opposed to bullseye super slow squeeze I hit IDPA targets well.

Recognize that the "slide stop" is small and is not called a "slide release." Unlike the 1911, where you can use the "slide release" or pull back on the slide after inserting a new magazine. With the FNP after inserting a new magazine, pull the slide to return to battery rather than trying to manipulate the slide stop.

These ones are superb. I don't have any experience with other FN pistols, but I'm not in any hurry to own a GP-35 even though they are one of those things that should eventually make it into a collection, I am in a hurry to pick up another FNP.

Yall had a chance to see the newest edition to the line up?

Waiting for that one to come to market!!!!!!:D:banghead::D Supposed to have been out for 6 months now.

Was so impressed with my standard FNP-45 that when I came across two FNP-45 USGs in FDE I baught them on the spot...Later sold the standard.

Very accurate and smooth...

Two minor complaints...
1)They sometimes throw an empty at your head.
2)MUCH prefer the Decock Only of the standard version.

One major complaint...
1)Need to get night sights!!

Small Hands...Several of the gals that I shoot with back home are rather small. Average 100-110lbs. and around 5'-5'5" or so. They have all shot them with no problems. Ambi-controls realy help out!! All have said that the FNP-45s are a bit big for them to carry however.

The FNP-45 is my nightstand gun.

Yeah, it's relatively big. And it's got a plastic trigger. And it hasn't won the Miss America pageant.

So freaking what?

The thing holds a ton of Federal .45 HST 230 grain +P, fits my TLR-1 Streamlight perfectly and is guaranteed to ruin an intruder's day (or night). It has yet to malfunction with anything I've put through it (and I've given it some serious workouts).

Get over your whining nitpicking and get one of these babies.

Or don't. I don't really give a rip.

I've got mine and it's a beauty.

You pays your money and you takes your choice - and consequences.

I'm into things that work and work well.

"But Meef - it has a plastic trigger."

Waaahhh!

...oh brother...
