I have been looking at the folding stock/pistol grip combinations offered by various makers and am seeking any advice or experince you may have to share. I currently have a pistol grip mossberg 500 cruser style shotgun. I am thinking a folding stock would be a better option. Thanks.

jt1,

Well, IMHO most anything would be better than a pistol grip only (PGO) stock on a shotgun. But I have tried most every folder option available (top folder, side folder, collapsible) and have yet to find one that works as well for me as a properly fitted conventional stock. You might want to experiment some and see if there's anything that you can live with, but in the process don't forget to try a conventional stock on your shotgun and see how that does for you.

Stay safe,

I have an ATI (cheap) sidefolder on my Mossberg. I keep it folded for compactness, use the folder when I actually wanna hit something. But when I hunt, I but the original stock back on it.

I have used several models. The Remington LE Top Folder was a miserable excuse for a shotgun stock. Self inflicted pain was it's only purpose.

The Choate top folder was little better but it did have a rubber pad on the thing.

The side folder was the best of the lot as it had a proper cheekrest and full recoil pad. It was not as stable however.

I have heard good things about the Knoxx stock but never fired a shotgun with one yet.

Bottom line is I have two shotguns in the house. One is a old Police 870 with wood furniture and I love it. The other is a new Remington 1100 Tactical with the speed feed pistol grip/full stock. Jury still out on this one but I like it much better than the folders.
