for VA residents: background check taking too long

Bought a PA-63 for $150 at a pawn shop yesterday. The check took 5 hours. It's a fact of life. Just deal with it.

Had several checks run in the last few weeks, all of which were less than 10 minutes. I believe they were done online and not called in. Perhaps you could find an FFL who uses the online system?

I feel for you...but, I live in NY. I bought a rifle from a dealer across the state line; 14 day waiting period :cuss: because NYS needs time to check me out. :banghead: Don't even ask me about the dept. of taxation and finance!:cuss:

All mine get delayed in VA... usually a few hours. I try to buy before lunch, come back and get the gun after lunch.

BackGround Investigations are a bleep

Never had a problem. Usually about 5-10 minutes. I am in the market for a .40 or .45 so Hopefully everything stays the way its been. Wonder why some it takes hours/days and others just minutes.

If you have a clearance, you will be delayed.
Not always true, but in general, if you have been fingerprinted by the federal government, you will be delayed. When the run a background check, the fact that you were fingerprinted pops up. If they are not too busy and they see that the reason for fingerprinting is a security clearance, they will not delay.
