A wierd question I don't know where to really put:

A good friend has a M38 Korean war Jeep restored, he drives in parades, it has a pintle mount of some kind he believes was used for a .50-cal. He was asking me if I knew where to find either a replica, or a completely unfirable demilled machine gun he could put on the pintle so it would look cooler in parades. NOTE I am serious about non firing non-capable-of-making fire type replica. Anybody got any idea what I am talking about? I though I remembered somebody that made wood replicas that look real but there might be somebody that makes old MG's look real but not work any more specifically for parades. Thanks for help.

I think he SHOULD have a

.30 cal., aircooled Browning on that mount. I've seen those several times, but have never seen a .50 on a real Jeep (No. "The Rat Patrol" does not count). I suspect it would be WAY too heavy.

Sometimes Sportsmans Guide has dewatted machine guns. The other, obvious, source is running a GOOGLE search.

How about just getting a semi-auto Browning 1919 of some type and then plugging the barrel and action with concrete?

It'd be perfectly legal and inoperable. It'd be a waste of a perfectly good gun though and at $1500 a pop it'd be expensive.

Or maybe he could get a 1919 kit and make his own but make it inoperable.

You can buy 1919 kits minus the right side plate, and plenty of places also sell dummy side plates for assembling them as non-operable. That would be the way to go, in my view. The trick will be mounting it. Finding the right mount, if his Jeep isn't already equipped to mount the 1919, will be difficult and expensive.

He should also be prepared to show convincing evidence to anyone who asks that the gun is inoperable. My dad knows a guy with a mutt sporting a dummy 1919, and he almost never puts it on except at military vehicle shows because of the hassles it causes. Even when he tries driving it in a parade, or taking it to a local car show, the police show up in response to citizen reports of a lunatic with a machine gun on his "jeep". It can sometimes be difficult to deal with the local constabulary, who either aren't easily convinced it is non-functional, or just don't care and want it hidden or removed from their jurisdiction.

Ask over at http://www.m2hb.net/m2phpBB/index.php you might find someone with one to sell.

Check out this thread for a 1919 mount. http://shoot1919a4.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=147

You'll need to find a pedestal mount for your jeep to hold the M2, a friend has one on his M38. I assume you already have it, you can also try checking ebay. Sounds strange but I did see a prop M2 there before, sold for over a grand if I remember right.

m2 50 cal

Look on gunbroker.com there was a replica 50 cal on there for around 500 bucks
