There's a lot of things I don't care for at my job....but as far as friendly attitudes towards firearms....it's good to go!
Personal Manager always leaves his old copies of the "Guns and Ammo Handguns" in the breakroom when he's done with 'em.
Owner (semi-retired) goe's to Labrador via. charter plain to hunt Carribou every year.
Every now and again there's a sign up for Moose meat when the owner is purging his freezer and there's always some kind of Moose meat dish at the little office Christmas party.
Owner's son (Company President) often has good stories about his uncle always getting lost in the woods up at camp when they deer hunt....which leeds to him and the Production manager comparing their hand held GPS systems during the production meeting.
Personal Manager (former reservist drill sargent) shoots cowboy action.
Every fall the lunch table conversation innevitably turns to "who knows the best deer cutter".
Official written policy is no fire arms at work, but the Personal Manager simply tells folks to "keep it in your car".
Production Manager brings new cammo. 1300 to work to show off his red dot scope (which is pretty darn cool).
Controller says he's gonna reclaim his .22 from his brother so he can take up plinking again.
Purchasing Manager (former Air Force Crew Chief) has CCW and I'll bet you money it's in her purse all the time.
Personal Manager is complaining that his safe is stuffed full and he's having to offload hand guns to his son, who is also taking up Cowboy Action Shooting.
Maintenance Manager says he built a machine gun (though I think he's FOS, as he also claims to be building a perpetual motion machine).
Lead Maintenance Mechanic loves his .357s.
Lead Eng. Tech. used to shoot competitively, but has since sold off all his reloading equipment (now he shoots his digital camera).
Not uncommon to see pick-up truck gun racks in the employee parking lot.
Personal manager asks for a copy of my CCW application after showing me his card and realizing that it expired 6 months ago.
Lead truck mechanic was in the Corps for 8 years and is often good for an Okinawa story or two.
Thought I don't think it's been used in a long time, the owner still has a tree stand out back behind the factory.
Sig Arms and Thompson Center are frequent customers.....as well as General Dynamics Armament Systems.....so calling on customers isn't always boring.....(those F-16 gattling guns are pretty darn cool....when we built the test range carts I was desperately looking for an excuse to inspect them in service ). Got to see a Pack-bot demo. back in August.
Privately owned companies have their quirks and politics, but at least there's no corporate PC cr@p.
Once again....I'm SOOOOOOO glad I don't live in the city!!
