Front Bead Protruding Into Barrel???

I bought a Remington defense barrel for my 870 Express 12 guage. I shot it a few times several months ago. When I inspected the inside of the barrel a few days ago, I noticed some plastic material hung up by a burr caused by the end of the front sight bead protruding slightly into the barrel. Is this common? Does the front sight bead just need to be backed out of the barrel? Or does it need to be sent to Remington for repair or replacement?

I assume your gun is a cylinder choke? If so I'd find a wood dowel close to bore diameter, wrap some 400 grit wet paper around it and polish off the burr. If you want to be anal, follow that with crocus cloth and it will be slicker than any 870 bbl Remington ever made. Turning the sight takes a special tool and they can break off too. Best solution is to call Brownell's and buy a set of ghost ring front & rear sights, then you can zero it in.

AFAIK bead sights on most Remington barrels these days are pressed in, not threaded. Best bet is to carefully polish off the protrusion and get on with shooting.

my mossy's original bead sight protruded a tiny bit into the barrel. I wouldn't worry about it, but if you want to get rid of it, unscrew it and file it down.

(I replaced the bead on mine for other reasons)
