Just heard this on the radio in central Indiana Gander is having a "Firearms Blowout". Starts tomorrow ends Sunday up to 40% off new and used firearms. I'm going tomorrow whooohooo!!:what:

Good luck. Anything good won't be on sale. Typical Gander hype. Like their "Lowest price Guarantee". Yesterday they had 6' deer hauling sleds on a $30 blowout. Across the street at a Farm and Home store, $25, which is the regular price.

My son and I went to the local Gander Mtn this evening and they had a number of handguns on clearance with orange price tags. Here's what they had (P225):

Clearance Price: $399.99
Original Price: $399.97

Excuse me? The clearance price is 2 cents over the original price?

The had about eight older Colt M1911s that looked really in need of refinishing and cleaning up. Looked like they would qualify for C&R status based on age alone. So I asked the guy behind the counter if "they were C&R?" He hunches his shoulders, says, "I don't know that much about Colts... what's a C&R?":banghead:

And these are the guys that have to escort you to the door if you purchase a firearm so that you don't do anything dumb.

anything at gander that ends in .97 will be either priced lower starting tommorrow, or you take an additional 50 dollars off.

So I asked the guy behind the counter if "they were C&R?" He hunches his shoulders, says, "I don't know that much about Colts... what's a C&R?"
I'd have replied C&R = Crappy & Rusty.

Who cares if they are C&R? They'd still make you fill out a 4473 as would most shops.

I've been in two GM's in the last week, both of which had P225's for $399. All of them were in pretty bad shape too, "fair" at best. The store yesterday had one amoungst the others marked "clearance" for $499, and it was nastier than the $399 guns.

In the last year, I've bought 2 used SIG's in near new condition for $400-450.

From what I've seen of their prices, new or used, they, like Cabelas, seem to be very proud of what they sell, and their prices reflect it.

I was in this morning for the big blowout, a joke by all considerations. I was looking at handguns and found numerous .22s, large bore Rugers and a couple wheel guns.

Let's not forget the Taurus'.

No SIGs, No Berettas, No Glocks, No Springfields, No CZs, No nothin'!

Oh yeah, they were there, under the glass with their fat prices just waiting for a frustrasted buyer to actually look at some quality pieces.

All hype, no substance and by all accounts a waste of time.

I was looking at a Ruger SP101 at GM. It was priced at $460.00. Then I went to Sportsmans Warehouse and they had it priced at $399.00 Even if I did get $50 off, it would still be less at Sportsmans.

Curios and Relics == C&R

They are guns our friendly overlords don't think are a threat to them so they don't make people who have 03 FFL licenses go thorough a normal gun dealer.
and 03 licenses are cheaper than 01s.

Cornfused yet?

Well I was happy with my experience... I picked up a P225 that was marked for $420 out the door for $350 (applying for the credit card for the additional 5% discount ate most of the tax). Ran by home gave it a quick once over and then proceeded to the range. Was only there an hour but it was a good hour.

All I am saying is that happiness is where you find it and today it was a warm gun and pieces of paper full of holes.

Rock on!!!

Thanks Nate!!!!!

Great communication, they gave me the Indiana price here in Minnesota.

P225's are so sweet, fit my hands like a glove. Long live the single stack!
