I been hearin' a lot of you talkin smack about gangstas holding the pistol sideways to shoot it. Y'all need to recognize, there's a reason for this. It's like this--

you stand facing the other guy. you hold your piece out at arm's lenth, in yr right hand. sideways. You tap the trigger. It's called a "cant", like, "you cant escape".

when you cant your piece, it makes the bullet hit a little down and to the left. So you're facing the other dude, reaching out from your shoulder, the bullet's going to hit down and to the left of HIS shoulder. You feel me? at ten, fifteen yards, it's gonna go somewhere in the vicinity of his left nipple. that's a good shot, and you didn't even have to aim.

If you can't aim, you just cant.

So anyway, "piece" out, y'all, and I'll see you in the hood.

I have shot a 1911 .45 at 90 degrees, but only because it was required to shoot below a low barrier in an IPSC match and I couldn't get down low enough to shoot straight up. At close range, it isn't too bad. Don't try it beyond about 7-10 yds.

I'm wit' LK, whoever invented this obviously never tried it with a Kel-Tec P11.

A buddy of mine is a very large gun show dealer. He added sights to a cheapy gun just like that!:D He keeps it on the table amongst all the other guns he is selling to see peoples reactions. LOL You would be surprised how many guys would pick it up and think it was cool!.

*bang* *eats brass casing* *bang* *dodges brass casing* *bang* *eats brass casing*
oh **** this ****, who thought this **** up anyway

as long as the "gangstas" keep killing each other instead of letting me support them on wellfare or in jail I dont care how they choose to hold their weapons.

The LEO who taught my CHL class told us that "homeboy-style" shooting has saved more lives than body armor!! Seems they may look cool, but they can't hit squat!

From what I've seen of the local range, he's right. :neener:

I can't really imagine some kind of street thug telling me that when I ask him why he aims like that. It's most likely they hold it like that because they saw it in some Ice-T or NWA music video a while ago.

Its ICE-CUBE btw, :neener:

Anywho, i think its a goverment funded program to incorporate sideways-gun shooting gangstas in move that look cool as to influence gang members so they dont kill good people.

no respec!

y'all got no respec! I'm jus' tryn to tell you how things is done down town. This is a tactic. This is a stragedy!

but seriously, it is a technique that goes back to the days of showdowns and gentlemanly duels. You don't get off your first shot as quick as if you shoot from the hip, but you're a bit more likely to make it count, I think.

and as has been previously pointed out, it's only good at close range.
Also correct is the observation that today's ganstas are probably doing it as much through imitation as anything, and probably don't recognize that it is a tactic, developed through someone's experience and useful in a limited range of situations, and not merely a stylistic difference.

Personally, I can't care much about "style" on a good day, much less so during a shootout.

When i hold a gat sideways, ejection port points down. But when I fire an AR, upright, it's straight in front of my face. Haven't eaten a shell so far.
