Garand Field Grade Refinish?

Hi,

Since CMP just cut off Service Grade orders, and I may nor may not be on the waiting list, I am contemplating my options.

I am thinking I may order a Rack Grade sans wood, gamble on the barrel, and plan for a new stock and a refinish job.

What do you guys say about a Gunkote or other epoxy type finish on a Garand?

Just kidding, depends on whether or not you are a traditonalist or not.
Why order Rack grade sans wood? Ya never know what you might get in the stock, beaten perhaps but not destroyed. I would say you are less likely to get a good barrel than a good stock as I think (note the use of the last two words) that the grading has more to do with barrel that stocks (although both are considered and I have not real knowledge of what I speak).
