Thinking of getting a replacement barrel for my Glock 19 so I can shoot lead. However, I do not want to get one with a much tighter chamber so it can remain very tolerant as to which ammo it will shoot.

Anybody have practical experience with various barrels?

I have a Lone Wolf barrel for my G17. It is tighter than my stock glock barrel, but I have no problems with it feeding bullets sized at .358. I just have to seat them shorted so they will fit. I assume that you will be loading your own, so load the rounds so they will fit your barrel. My storm lake barrel for my G23 is also tighter than the stock one.

Bar-Sto or KKM. Bar-Sto required minor fitting. KKM are true drop in barrels. Lone Wolf in my limited experience has quality control issues.

I have KKM and Lone Wolf 40-9 conversion barrels and they have both been "drop in" without any fitting and have worked reliably without issues in my Glocks.

KKM barrel has 1:20 barrel twist rate with free bore cut into the chamber so it will accommodate any bullet nose type without OAL/COL issues.

My older Lone Wolf 9mm barrels came reamed to accommodate any bullet nose type and OAL/COL but the latest 9mm barrel has very quick start of rifling with almost no leade (like my Sig 1911 barrel) that's not compatible with non-stepped RN bullets (traditional stepped RN bullets work fine loaded to 1.125"). All Lone Wolf barrels have 1:16 barrel twist rate.

Both KKM and Lone Wolf barrels have groove diameters between .355"-.356" and even my lighter lead loads work without leading. Accuracy with various lead loads using RN/SWC/CN bullets has been very good with both barrels with KKM producing slightly smaller shot groups.

I have a Lone Wolf barrel for my 17. I didnt get it to shoot lead, I wanted a threaded barrel and it presented itself. Fits fine shoots as well as the stock one, dont know if its better, My shooting is likely the limiting factor.

I'm going to throw Briley Mfg. into the mix of barrel makers. They make very accurate barrels but I would suspect the chamber isn't near as loose as a factory Glock.

Unlike 40S&W barrels, 9mm KKM/Lone Wolf chambers are fairly comparable to factory Glock chambers with similar amount of case base support.

FYI, these are 9mm barrel twist rates and bullseye match shooters prefer slower twist rate barrels for accuracy:

Glock - 1:9.84

Bar-Sto - 1:16
Briley - 1:16
KKM - 1:20
Lone Wolf - 1:16
Storm Lake - 1:16
Wilson Combat - 1:10

I have lone wolf 40-9 conversion barrel and it shoots accurate and chamber Ckd as long as I load them 1.080.
