I currently have a Glock 19, and used to have a Ruger P95. The Glock is a little sleeker, and has a consistent trigger pull. Easy to work on.
The Ruger is a little clunkier, most have a decocker or safety if you like that, I think they do have a DAO option as well.
I settled on the Glock, but really the Ruger is a fine pistol as well, less expensive as you've noted.
Both my Glock, and the Ruger, were 100% reliable, no difference.
If the money makes a difference, the Ruger will do fine.
