In a perfect world where 10mm auto ammunition was just as available and the same price as .45 acp, which GLOCK model would you prefer to own.

Since I've got a .45acp already, I took the 10mm. The G20 would be an excellent big brother to my G22. Extreme amount of power in a lightweight package.

Buy the Glock 21 for cheaper practice ammo, then order a KKM 45-10mm barrel and shoot 10mm.
KKM Barrel is $165 (www.kkmprecision.com)
Get some Glock 20 mags, and possibly a heavier recoil spring/guide rod and you are set with two calibers.
Just make sure that the Glock 21 has the Loaded Chamber Indicator extractor.

I'm a 1911 kind of guy... I love the G 20. It will actually shoot factory .40 S&W from the same mags and everything, have had a few problems shooting lightly reloaded rounds or you can put a G 22 barrel into it and as you know .40 is cheaper than 45acp.

No, you cannot put a Glock 22 barrel into a Glock 20......and shooting .40S&W ammo out of a stock Glock 10mm is not recommended.

Even in an imperfect world, the thinking pistolero still chooses the Glock 20 in 10mm AUTO.
* More power.
* More versatility of use.
* Greater mag capacity.
* Flatter shooting - with more down-range smack at distance.
* A HUGE range of available bullet-weights in factory ammo or for reloading (i.e., 135gns to 230gns), from which to select for the particular task at hand.
* The gun itself, the G-20, is easily a sturdy 4-in-1-gun. Only a barrel swap is needed to shoot other calibers (i.e., 10mm, .40S&W, .357Sig & 9x25 Dillon). Hence you can save big $$$ on the cost of getting separate guns & mags.
How easy could the choice be? Hmmmm?

I totally agree with agtman. I love my G20 and G29, probably the only pistols I will ever keep. I only regret that I gave away all my 357sig ammo when I traded off my G31 and G32
. If I only would have known that I could buy these barrels for the 10mm GLOCKs. By the way where can you get them from anyway?

Which is better, a Toyota or a Ferrari? One caveat: Imagine that you don't have to pay for gas or insurance. 
Really, comparing these guns without taking the cost/availability of ammo into account is sort of silly. I used to have a Glock 20 and now own a Glock 21 for exactly this reason. If you really want to shoot 10mm, buy a 10mm barrel for the G21 as suggested above.

Glock 10mm, the luxurious choice.
I guess the G20 is the Ferrari, and the G21 is the Toyota ! I know which one I would take if I was offered either one for free with a lifetime supply of ammo ! I like the .45, and I think the GLOCK 30 is the best compact version on the market, but I just can't get over the awesome ballistics of 10mm .

Shooting 40S&W out of a 10mm barrel puts extra stress on the extractor and can lead to unusual fouling at the chamber/rifling transition that can be dangerous under certain circumstances.
It's not likely to lead to an immediate catastrophe, but I wouldn't do it unless there were a REALLY good reason.
If you want to shoot 40 in a 10mm, you should buy a conversion barrel.

I used to think it was no big deal, but have been told many times(especially in glocks) that shooting .40 out of a 10mm was asking for trouble.
I still think that a Glock 21 w/a KKM barrel to shoot 10mm is the best way to two guns.

On one hand, I really like 10mm so the 20 is very appealing. OTOH, I have had a a 21 kb in my hands & I really don't plan on going through that again.
Which would I chose...all things being equal????

The 10 mm is the best round overall.
The only problem with the 10 mm is the possibility of over peneration. Some of the rounds push in the 800's in energy level. It's a good round for BG's and some medium size animals in an automatic. I like the .45 acp and own one, but the 10 mm is far superior in many ways.

Perfect world: I'll take the 10mm. Same price, higher capacity, more punch.
Real world: I don't hunt with handguns, 10mm $ > .45acp $, not big on transformaguns*; I'll take a G21.
*although I'd take a 32 and make it into a 19 for some reason. I really WANT to believe there is something to the .357sig.

I own a GLOCK 20, and a Colt M1911.
However, if factory 10mm ammo was more available, and in the same price range as .45acp, I'd choose and use the GLOCK 20 exclusively.
In fact, in my 'perfect world', 10mm ammo would be available at the same cost as 9mm ammo

The Glock 21's with the loaded chamber indicator, are large enough and angled right to pick up the small diameter 10mm case rims.
You cannot shoot .45ACP's in a 10mm slide, because the larger .45 will not fit on the breach face(?) of the slide.
If your 3rd gen Glock 21 does not have the LCI, it can easily be upgraded too.

I reload, so cost of ammo was not the issue. But I figured it would be a heck of a lot cheaper to put a .400 Cor-Bon barrel in my .45 than to buy a new 10 mm.
