Glock 22 range report

Finally found a deal on a Glock that I couldn't pass up even though I've never had a good experience with one. After 500 rounds I'm still up in the air about whether she's a keeper or not.
I was shooting CCI Blazer, I know not the best ammo,but at $8 a box and not wanting to lose my brass to the snow I felt it was a good choice for some volume shooting. The recoil was noticably sharper, not really harder, than either my XD or 96. Maybe due the the lighter weight. The trigger with 3.5lb Glockworks connector installed was better that any Glock trigger I've ever tried. Very crisp. I knew when the trigger would let off everytime, something I've never been able to do with a Glock. Trigicon's provided a great sight picture.
Yet shooting at 4 inch plates at 15, 20, 25 yards in my backyard range I was only hitting maybe 50% of the time. With my 1911's or XD's I have much higher hit %. Not that I expected to instantly be great with the Glock. I just don't know if I want to add another platform to my shooting. I'm shooting 1911's, BHP's, and XD's. Maybe she needs a few more test runs...

i put right at 600rds maybe a little more before i gave up on the glock that i had, which was a 19. i really wish i would have kept it, and put trijicons or other form of three dot night sights and i would have kept it. keep shooting it you will either fall in love with it or hate it.

To be honest Glocks aren't for everyone.(personally for now on I'll always have one Glock in my possession)

For some, including my self, theirs a learning curve. Truth for me is if I don't meld within a few months it's not gonna happen within the few times I'm able to visit the range. There's certain guns I've picked up and just bonded with immediately. Two Rugers in fact. Am I trading my Glock for a Ruger, hell no. What would I trade my Glock for... another Glock.

As soon as I feel a little better, I'll be back outside with the gun. Besides the learning curve of a new platform, my main gripe is the placement of the slide release. My thumb rests right on it. It seems as though it's postioned perfectly to ensure that my gun will never go to slide lock. I've got the same problem with my XD's that I'm just learning to overcome.

I've owned several Glocks over the years & everytime I got rid of one, I seemed to look at the Glocks in the display case. I've owned them in 45 acp, 40 S&W & 9mm. Finally, when I got the 9mm, I found the one worth keeping....you might be in the same boat. Shoot your G22 a while longer & make the decision right for you -- congrats on the new pistol & good luck deiciding

I did not like the G23, got rid of that. Then I found a G26 with night sights for a good price, and liked that. Bought a G20, and LOVE that. Tried a G19, traded it. Then found out I wanted one again, and found an almost new G19 for a great price. That was 6 years ago.

I guess with Glock you have to go through a learning/growing curve, I hated them when they came on the scene. A friend had a G17 that we could not hit the broadside of a barn with, and I'm not a bad shot. I was shooting my Star Firestar at the range one day when some yokel showed up with a G17 and made the comment that I should get a real gun. I played along, how does it shoot? REAL GOOD. Ok, you shoot 10 rounds at your target, we check for group size and score, and then I'll shoot the same size target with my little Star. It was not even a contest, I had all of mine in the black, he was all over the place.

I still can shoot my Sigmas better than my Glocks, but I carry the G26 on a daily basis. I'm growing fond of it.
