I put together a direct comparison of these two great 9mm's. It is a thin slice between them, both carry well, with the edge going to the Glock, its smoother, smaller and lighter. Ruger wins in the ergonomics dept(does Glock ever win in ergos?? :banghead:) its grip far more comfortable. The Ruger has a more crisp trigger but it can be touchy the Glock's is always consistent. I feel the Glock balances and points better, likely because of the 26's squat even contour, where as the SR9c's thin grip and fat slide weight the pistol differently. Both shoot well and do the job, I have not shot this 26 yet, but have shot other G26s, shoot-ability and accuracy is too close to call between them.

For me the difference was all in the feel of the grip section. I have never been comfortable with the Glock 26 while the Ruger SR9c seemed perfectly fitted for my hand.

Its tough, I like my SR9c very much. My intent is only to keep one, so sooner or later I'll have to make a decision :(

I've been ankle carrying the G26 lately. This gun is fantastic. I just got a tritium front sight for it. The Ruger may be a great gun, but it's hard to beat a gun that shoots and feels like the g26.
To those that say these guns are too big to ankle carry I would say that with a good holster I forget about it after a little while.

For years and years I have felt these guns were too big to carry...period. That opinion was based on comparing them in the store...not actual use  I've been through SO many "carry" guns PF9, P9, PM9, CM9, P290, PT709 etc...etc. If, way back when, I had just listened a good buddy with lots of carry experience and got a G26, who knows how many dollars I could have saved..?
I do notice the extra gun real estate but the truth is in day to day use of these larger double stack sub-compacts they are no more or less comfortable, harder to conceal or obtrusive then any of the small single stack sub-compacts I've carried.

I've had a Glock 26 for quite a while and it's an excellent little pistol. More often than not, I pocket carry a P238, but the G26 is a pretty reasonable choice for IWB carry. While it's a little chunky, it's relatively lightweight. Its size, accuracy and reliability offer a pretty compelling argument that it's nearly the ideal concealed carry pistol.

I carried a G26 for almost a year before deciding that enough is enough, I didn't like the grip angle or trigger enough to keep carrying it. Now, I carry a Springfield Ultra Compact in 45ACP and it is much better for me with my big hands. I would carry my G17 before going back to the G26, also my Ruger SR9 or CZ PO1 are much better handguns for me personally...

Good compairison...

But, for my, the Ruger SR9c is MY gun.
I prefer the grip and feel...

Lateck,

Great comparison of two guns that will carry on through hell and high water.

I prefer the G26 for weight and balance, but the SR9c is a quality firearm.

Great pics. In my opinion you don't need the pinky extension on the SR9c.

The thinness of the Ruger SR9c is the best feature. It makes it easy to shoot with great accuracy. Plus the trigger breaks right away.

I'm taking them both out this weekend for side by side, round for round slug fest ;) I hope this will nail down which one is the keeper.

Mike.... thanks for the great post and excellent pics. I am still weighing these two guns in my mind but at this point I feel that I am leaning toward the G26.
No problem and at this point I am leaning toward the G26, too ;)
The G26 came with a very nice leather Cobra Gunskin ItW holster that I've been carrying it in. I have a Don Hume 715 with body shield coming for the SR9c. These two holsters are almost identical, but fit for the different pistols.
I'll post some pics up and my impressions of carrying both asap.

Nice review, I would like to see the reliability of each other. I been having this debate for a while now, but I have the S&W m&p9c in the debate as well.

I have been carrying the g26 for two years now. My wife had one jam on the 2ND mag(very limp wristed) since then around 1500 rounds without one(both of us shooting regularly). I definitely recommend the pierce extension. I carry it both with and without but definitely prefer without.

I will also recommend the crossbred super tuck. It completely changed how I felt about concealed carrying the g26. Love this holster. Been using the holster for about 18 months.

I actually had a CB QuikClip on order for both the SR9c and G26, but cancelled them...
I've been a dedicated appendix carrier for a long time with the micro 9s I've had....I thought going up to a bigger gun I want to go to the hip, but I've found I'm just as comfortable and happy with them in a straight drop leather like the Cobra GunSkin or DH715 in appendix.
Alright I'm off to the range to shoot the hell out of them, make a final decision and wrap this up..

So....After running the pistols side by side and carrying them in similar holsters...
The choice was cut and dry.... I'm keeping the Ruger SR9c.
I honestly surprised myself, I really thought I'd keep the Glock, but once out on the range the SRc proved much more refined. The difference between the two in shoot-ability and accuracy was stark. That top weight of the SRc settled it much better in the hand during firing and control was a notch above Glock. I've always liked the Ruger's trigger but realized how good it actually is shooting next to the G26. I also never gave much thought to the SRc's sights...until shooting next to the Glock, Ruger's are better. In the DH holster below, the bigger SRc is somehow more comfortable....
Both are great guns but I really have to give the edge too the Ruger. I'm out.

Glock's have never worked for me, the ergo's are terrible. I bought a Ruger SR9-C earlier this year and I love it. Its a delight to shoot.

That's true Browns Fan....but I don't want two sub-compact 9mm's, it was always going to be one or the other.
I put the G26 package up for sale, if it doesn't move I might open it up for trades.
