Glock 30 .45 acp

I handled one in the gun store the other day. I liked the size, but not the typical thickness (my main gripe with Glock). I settled on the G36 because I feel perfectly armed with 6+1. I might even try out one of those +1 mag extensions. That would put me in 1911 capacity range.

So far, I'm loving the heck out of this light little thing:)

I had a 21 and was looking for something more compact. I looked at the 30 and 36 side by side and not that much of a difference. I bought the 30 and am well satisfied with the selection. Best all around Glock 45 in my book as the 19 is the best all around 9.

It's a Glock. That all that needs to be said in my book. When you hit the bang switch it's going to go bang. They are outstandingly designed and easily maintained. Only 33 parts and very reliable. Ugly, Blocky but I would bet my life on one right out of the box anytime. Excellent carry gun in my humble opinion!:D I carry a 36 most of the time

I've had one for 2 yrs now. One of my carry guns although mostly in the winter when I wear enough clothing to conceal it. I looked at the SF model but it didn't seem to be thinner so I won't get one. Mine has been uber reliable. I had to replace the main spring once but no other issues with it. I bought an aftermarket barrel so I can shoot my lead reloads and it has functioned flwlessly. I stake my life on mine.

Do you think a Metro Arms American Classic II 1911 .45, leather holster and 5 mags is a good trade for the Glock 30, 3 mags, twin mag holster, holster for gun and 2 boxes of factory .40 S&W ammo (for another of my handguns)?

I had one in the early 2000s. I never warmed up to it the way I did my Glock 19 back in 1998. It was somewhat fussy about functioning, not liking any kind of straight-sided, conical shaped bullets, and I had to sort through several magazines before I found ones that fed every time. It was also very thick - the slide unnecessarily so for a .45 IMO - and blocky and did not fit my hand as well as my 19. I sold it.

You better believe it. That Philippine clunker is a bomb! I have 3 in here right now for repairs. They are roll printed "Firestorm" and the New Jersey importer is very uncooperative about parts.

I've had my 30 for more than a year and can only say it's been great.
Small enough to carry concealed w/o any problems.
Extremely accurate for a pistol of this caliber and size.
A 45 caliber, well what more needs to be said about that.
Ten in the clip and one in the chamber 10 + 1 = 11!!!
I checked out an SF but didn't notice much difference between mine and the SF model. So I stood with what I've got.
Easy to maintain. I could probably continue but why.
And I agree, with what someone said earlier, about not thinking Glocks are ugly. They are utilitarian. They are TOOLS designed and manufactured to do a job. A job that they do quite well. I plan to get a 19 in 9MM soon, probably after the holidays if I have a penny left that is! And I think Glocks look just fine for what they do and what they are.

My 30 SF has been reliable. No problems period. Also Glock 27, and 17 have been 100% reliable. I do have a G23 that had problems early (just run em stock, hot, and dry and you'll never have a problem).

A side note is that with the G30 you can use the G21 mags and increase capacity to 13+1.

I'll probably catch a bunch of sh*t from the Sig guys, but I don't think Glocks are ugly at all.
I liken them, in a way, to the A-10 attack plane. It is rather unattractive on the surface, but if you're an infantryman on foot and it has just blown a tank or other vehicle to shreds, you will think it beautiful. ;) All of its seeming design oddities serve a purpose.

G30, G36 and M&P 45c, all are nice guns. The G30 is a great gun. No problems with mine shoots great and takes mags for my G21. IMHO the trigger is better than the M&P out of the box. I carry the G30 more often then the M&P. If you like Glocks, the G30 is sweet shooting compact 45. Yes it is blocky and some say ugly, but it goes bang every time and is a perfect carry gun.

If the slide - which is larger/wider to handle the more powerful 10mm Auto in its G29 counterpart - were engineered for the .45, and the magazines were just steel without the plastic overlay, it could be slimmed considerably. But no one listens to me. ;)

I can shoot my G30 better than my 19,22,and 26. While the grip at first felt too large, first trip to the ranged revealed it to be very comfortable and recoil was non existant. It is definetly my favorite Glock.

Any one know the weight difference of fully loaded g30(10+1) and g36(6+1) . Leaning toward single stack g 36. If they shoot as good as people say 6+1 & extra Magazine of .45 should be sweet.

How sweet it is!:D

I don't know the actual weight difference, but the G36 is a summer carry for me with 7+1 and extra mag of 7rds. I put on the +1 mag extensions. The 36 shoots nice as well. I've not had a problem with mine at all.

It also fits in G 19 holsters too

Are you a Approved America Classic/Firestorm warranty center ? If you are then parts would not be a problem . By way the pistols are 1911 compatible So after market will work . I have swaped many parts just checking . Maybe if the owners sent then to a warrenty center and not to you they would be repaired and returned Quickly
I have on of the first American Classic in country#78 and presented to me by the President of that NJ company . I know people that have them and every where they are talked about the get the best reviews from owners and gun tests. On my board have had 1 with a problem extractor . On the bigger 1911 boards they are well received But you knock them. Return them to the owners and if you haven't messed them up to bad Have them contact me I will see their sent to a warranty center that will fix and has most parts on hand.
I see all you do is knock 1911 and you carry a glock but claim to do custom work on 1911 's That's kinda like claiming to build Ford racing engins but you race a Chev. Doesn't make much sense to me.

I own one, it works, I carry it. Have not had one issue with it. I do not feel that the grip is too big at all. I picked mine up used at a great price. Yes, they are butt ugly, but if it was taken from me due to a legal issue I would not lose any sleep.

I feel that if you are looking for what I call a mini .45 then it would be hard to beat a G30.

I still like my Colt 1911's better....:neener:

I had one. It had the WORST bore I'd ever seen on a firearm. That includes surplus stuff.

The bore was gouged throughout it's entire length and the rifling was cut at varying depths. The barrel walls were also thicker on one side than the other, like it was bored off center.

After seeing that I went back to the shop I bought it at and looked at the two other Metroarms/Firestorms they had. Sure enough, they both displayed varying degrees of the same shoddy work.

I talked to the folks at CGW. They acted like it wasn't an issue, but if I really wanted, they would look at it and fit a new barrel, more than likely of similar quality. I decided not to waste my time or the cost of shipping.

I decided to run a few rounds through it to at least see how my $385 headache printed. The rear sight fell off after three rounds.
