I recently bought a Glock 30 SF. I got to shoot it today. Took it out of the box and shot it without oiling it first. I would have preferred to oil the new pistol before firing, but I forgot. I ran about 25 rounds of ball, followed by 25 rounds of Federal 185 JHP, and finally some 25+ rounds of Winchester Ranger 230 gr. I has a failure of the slide to go fully forward on the last round out of the magazine; I assume the pistol was getting dirty and the lack of lubrication was probably a factor. A shove against the rear of the slide and it went into battery. I stopped shooting after 75+ rounds through the pistol. I though it deserved to be cleaned & oiled.

I had shot about 30-40 rounds through my model 23 before shooting the 30 SF and after 100+ rounds my hand had taken all the abuse it wanted. The 23 is the one that dished out the abuse when firing the relatively hot Ranger 165. (Maybe I didn't grip the model 30 SF properly since my hand was getting tired and that would have contributed to a failure to go into battery.) IMO the model 30 SF is more pleasant to shoot than the model 23.

I'll shoot more of the Ranger 230 gr. another day to confirm reliability, but I don't expect a problem. Can't wait until my holster arrives.

Here are some pics. of the model 30 SF with my old model 23 and XD45 compact.
