Got the storm lake conversion barrel for my Gen 3 G30sf and here are my impressions. The Storm Lake barrel is well made and fit it pretty tight. The first round in the mag jammed 2 times but all extractions have been OK. Extractions are not thrown consistently though. You never know where they will go. The extractor just cant grab it tight enough to throw them like the 45 does. The chamber is very tight and there is very little unsupported case. It seems to do better the more I shoot it. At this point I would not carry it with 10mm for self defense but would in the woods. The loaded chamber indicator does not work in 10mm since the extractor is the indicator and the 10mm does not push it out like the 45 does. I have only shot one box of ammo so far so it is too soon to tell what it will do as more rounds go through it. I hear a lot about springs but the 30 and the 29 both use the same spring and I see no need to replace it. With 175 grain silver tips recoil is similar to 45+p and not punishing at all. Power wise I will say this, I have a steel tank that I have been shooting at and the 9mm, 40, 45 will not penetrate it, but they put nice dents in it. the 9mm+p will occasionally barely make it through but the silver tips make it through every time. The 10mm ST are suppose to be loaded to mid level at around 1200fps. I have no question this will handle max power loads with no problems at all and add a significant power boost over 45. With that being said, I love the 45. It shoots accurate and reliable and the 45 has plenty of power for SD. I carry it with 45+P 230 HS. However, most of the time I carry my G27 since it is pocketable and the 40 is more than enough for.
