I like to scrape off stubborn hardened powder crud with a screw driver on my Glock. Mainly on the edges of the breechface, and the part of the barrel that contacts the breechface. I know it is steel on steel, but is this harmful to the Glock finish?

It won't hurt it unless you start to gouge the metal. I use a toothpick or the tip of a brass patch jag for caked-up powder.

Check out similar thread

It might be fine, but I would never use something this abrasive on any of my firearms. Mainly because if you clean it after each use there is no need, most everything wipes off easily with some quality solvent/oil. You might want to check out this similar link

Got me a bronze brush. Hopefully this takes care of things. Thanks.

I hear that Slip 2000 is the cat's azz for carbon removal.

I been using Break Free for ages, but it isn't as fast as what I keep hearing about Slip 2000.

There's a gun show this weekend.
I'll have to scare up a bottle to find out for myself.

I got a few of those plastic dental style picks. They work pretty good. As long as your scraping tool is softer then what your scraping you shoun't be able to damage anything. I wouldn't use a screwdriver though. That's just kinda shade tree.

i use a bronze bristle brush and a solvent and that seems to work just fine, i wouldn't personally take a screwdriver and scrap anything on my guns with it.
