How can I tell a Glock G22 pre ban high capacity magazine from a new G22 high capacity magazine? Also, anyone know where I can buy G22 pre ban high capacity magazines?
What's the difference? If it's pre-ban, it'll just be a standard capacity magazine with no distinguishing features. If it's one from the years of the ban, it will say LE use only. If it's a new magazine of recent manufacture it won't say anything.
The old ones are probably pretty worn by now. Get the brand spankin' new ones.
Depending on state regulations, pre-ban hi-capacity mags may be legal, while post-ban will be illegal. I don't know if all state regulations recognize the Federal {'94) ban date, or have their own dates after which restrictions apply.
Thanks guys. rcmodel, that's some great info there thanks.
Here in New Yorkistan we can only have pre ban high capacity magazines. We can only buy new post ban type firearms with a maximum of 10 rds. magazine capacity. We can buy, have and use all the pre ban firearms and magazines we want. So no bayonet lugs, flash hiders, collapsible or folding stocks on any new post ban AR's, AK's, Mini 14/30's ect. NYC has their own gun laws. I'm nowhere near NYC so it doesn't effect me.
My G22 is my main conceal carry pistol so maybe I'll be better off just sticking with my 10 rd. magazines. I carry at least one spare magazine whether I carry my G22, G27 or SW1911. I'd probably have a magazine related malfunction before I run out of 10 rds. of ammo. I'll just keep stocking up on pre ban magazines for my AR15.
There is at least one pre ban not up there. The top looks like the 10 rd. post ban all the way on the left but is full capacity. I have two 23 mags like them. They are what I know as 3rd. gen prebans. 1st gen is not Fully Metal Lined, 2nd gen is FML like the pre ban all the way to the right. They all have two horizantal below the witness holes but just in the polymer.
U = 1st Gen NFML
|_| = 2nd Gen FML
\_/ = 3rd Gen FML
