I was wondering if a Glock 21 can be converted to 10mm with just a barrel swap and mags. I already have a 21 and I want a 20 but if the conversion can be made I will just do that. Thanks, and sorry if this is a dumb question.

Yes, for the most part all you need is a conversion barrel and the magazines. Depending on the age of the Glock 21 it was recommended (to me) to get the newer style extractor if you haven't already (if it's a relatively new 21, it should have the newer extractor already). Also, for the hotter 10mm loads it was recommended to use a heavier recoil spring. However, you can absolutely shoot 10mm out of a 21 with just a barrel and mag swap.

thanks

I bought my 21 last August so I am assuming that it is new enough for the swap. I was worried about the extracter and that's why I thought I would ask here before I tried it. It still bothers me though so I may just buy the 20 and be done with it. Then I can get a .357 and a .40 barrel and have three new guns:D

make sure your G21 has the new trigger bar

it would say 4256-1 if NEW......or just 4256 if the OLD one.

new trigger bar fixes reports of light primer strikes....especially on reloaded ammo.

new bar is FREE if you take your gun to a glock armourer.

Good Day opd743 and et al.,

This is not to challenge the information provided by previous posts, I only raise some points of information that may assist you in your decision. There are a number of threads regarding this topic over on Glocktalk forums if you care to have a go at the information.

Essentially, there are several significant items of interest. First there is a pretty significant difference in the mass of the slides between the 20 (10mm) and 21 (45 acp). Additionally, the breachface of the 45acp is different from the 10mm.

I happen to own a 20 and 21 so I can confirm these points that have been brought up in the GT discussions.

Now with that said, I do use a conversion barrel with my G20 to run between configurations for 10mm and 40SW. That conversion is much more straight forward and quite effective, and cost effective too.

Best of luck in your information search.

Cheers!

Thanks for all the info. When I get to work tommorow I plan on ordering a Glock 20 from our FFL holder. I just want a 10mm to carry on duty and the more I think about it, I would have a whole lot less trouble in court if the caliber I use was made for the gun, in case I ever have to use it. The idea of the 10mm in a Glock 21 still interests me though. I may have to buy the conversion just to say that I have one.

I agree, I think you would be better off getting an actual G20, than shooting 10mm out of your G21 with conversion barrel. I have both as well and would not part with either.
