Going rate 1981 S&W 29-2

Bought my first 6" 29 in 1971 for $150 bucks from a guy that fired 6 rounds thru it and didn't like the recoil. Still own it and will pass down to grandkids. Love that beautiful revolver!
Thanks Grandpa! love you

I think shooters should looking into new 29’s. Modern material and manufacturing + warranty.

I will

Around here I would expect to see a 4" Model 29-2 with 4" barrel and 3T's LNIB with no box or tools for $1400-$1450. The workmanship and attention to detail are far better than anything you can buy new. And like someone said, no hole!

I own and love some smith 29-2s. However ,the other day I looked at a new blue classic 29 and was impressed. It was put together better in some respects than my old ones. Side plates fit perfect, machining excellent, chamber throats usually consistent ant.429, and most important it has the endurance package (smith started in late 1980s). For a shooter, the new one for sure . For nostalgia the old or best ,one of each!
I shoot mine a lot, but usually 44 special.

IMHO, if someone is a shooter, not collector, and wants S&W N-frame revolver, I would look only for those with endurance package (slot for bolt longer on front side):

And firing pin on hammer (no MIM parts):

I thought those were mutually exclusive features.
If you are talking about Endurance Package and forged hammer (with firing pin), plus other forged/solid steel components, they are not "mutually exclusive" on M29-3/-5 and M629-2E/-4.

Dash numbers could be different for other N-frame models. Hopefully, more knowledgeable members here will correct me if I am wrong.

I didn't know that. I've got a 29-2 and 29-3. I'll have to look at them. I thought the endurance package came out after the switch to MIM parts. I learn something every day here.
