Made the mistake of stopping by one of the local shops today. Ended up spending money. What a surprise. I think I did good but I figured I'd ask here just to be sure. Store had a big sale going on and I got a P-99 in 9mm for $449 new in box.

The only drawback I saw was the fact that it comes with two 10 rounders instead of regular capacity mags. Which leads me to the question of, whats a good site to pick some up from?

Well

I think you did good. I just picked up a P99 in .40 this week for $425 new. The 9mm is a bit more desired so you did good. Which trigger? Mine is the AS. Shot it for the first time today and enjoyed the heck out of it.

Wow Jake. Was the P99 the older version that looks like this?

I'm looking for a AS version. Can you let me know the store name?

The one I got was the DAO version. All they had. The store was Shoot Straight in Casselberry, Fl.

They had quite a few deals going that seemed to be pretty good to me but I haven't gone shopping or price hunting in quite a while. Some of the ones I remember were

Berreta M-9 = 499
Berreta 9000 = 399
Sp-101 .357 = 299
Bunch of Glocks = 400 and something (don't remember exactly)
Alot of S&W

My local shop sells the S&W version of the mags, so I can get them whenever I want.

Just call up Walther USA and order from the factory - they will be the same price.

P99

I got the P99 QA (double action only) at the very same store in 40 S&W for $399. I believe the 9mm had night sites (which more than justifies the $50 extra if you want night sites).

They did have a number of good deals, but the P99 seemed to be the best bargain based on my research. I was tempted by the Springfield 1911A1 Mil-spec in stainless for $499 and the Taurus P-145 for $319 as well.

Anna's Dad - Actually the QA is like the Glock or XD trigger - but there is a DAO version as well. It has a longer pull than the QA.

I've handled the QA, but never the DAO version. But, I do have 3 A/S models. And, that is usually the version everyone wants. It is DA/SA, and the SA pull is so, so sweet. I shoot it as well as I do 1911s. I found the QA trigger to be too heavy for me, but some people like it.

Anyway - let us know what you think of the gun after U have fired it a few times!

QA

Thanks for the clarification. Mine is definately DAO--says so on the slide. I really wanted the SA after everything I had read, but for $399 I was willing to settle :) .

It may be a little while before I can shoot it--busy with work and home at the same time but I'll try to remember to post an update once I have a couple hundred through it.
