Well I guess it is true that all good things come to an end. Kim Du Toit seems to have basically pulled the plug on his blog at kimdutoit.com. What a shame, the gentleman's site had a wonderful amount of information on a large variety of firearms, among other things. I think my doing a search for some info on a Marlin 336 is how I found his site in the first place; that was a couple or few years ago now. I have stuck with him ever since - great blogs, lots of gun related articles, lots of pics of good looking women tastefully featured on the weekends, and some good politcal talk too. I can only wish him luck as he goes to work to make ends meet. I cannot blame him for giving up the blog but, I can hope he hits the lotto and gets back to blogging real soon! He will be sorely missed.

Allow me to correct the above, Kim will still be up on weekends but I for one will miss the daily rants.
Best regards,
Glenn B :(

I too will miss the "Daily Rant".
At least he didn't close the NoR forum.
I hope eveyone that enjoys Kim or Connie's blogs helps them out.
I'm not talking about tossing a buck into the paypal jar, I mean telling any homeschoolers they know about Did Today. Gently sell a working and useful tool for the home schooling parent.
this will put food on Kris' table and let him have more time to entertain us.

That IS after all why we read his blog...

(Oh, and Kim? Thank you!)

Right now the site says that it has been permanently removed...

Anyone know what happened?

I got a window sying the web site is not responding, I hope the message you got about it having been permanently removed is not correct! I last viewed the site yesterday or the day before I think. There was a note from Kim saying he had found a job but it did not give details. I don't think I have his wife's web site bookmarked but, I may have to search for it to see if she has an explanation on her site. Hopefully all is well and the site is not lost to us. Kim is a good guy with a great blog and the Mrs. is likewise (that is a good gal with a great blog).

There was certainly no indication that the site would be going down for good any time soon. I suspect a technical issue of some sort since Kim was still making occasional blog entries and the forum has remained active. I hope I'm not wrong!

I just got the same message that the site is permanently closed down.

I then went to his wife's site, and it says system down.

Sent Kim an email to inquire, butn I think the email was dependent upon the web site being up. Hopefully it will go through and he will send a reply.

At least we still have the High Road...

But DAMN, I had just found Kims site.
I haven't read even a third of the rants!

Finding specific pages on wayback just sucks.

Mrs du toit's website says

"If we could give an explanation we would. Since we can't, we can't. It's sort of the point that we can't (or we would have). For those who have expressed genuine concern: we're fine. We're needing to move to a new chapter in our lives. Our blogs are closed permanently. We're working to "move" the forum to another guardian/location. We apologize for the suddenness of it and for scaring some folks, but it really could not be helped.

Speculations about black helicopter scenarios and such should be stopped. It is nothing like that.

If there was a way of saying more or giving some sort of explanation, we would, but we can't.

Thanks to all who played."

His attempt to be self employed ultimately failed.

He just started a new job where he will be a visible presence for that company.

He then immediately took the site down.

Connect the dots.

Be patient. KdT's rants aren't gone, just unavailable for an indefinite period until his employment situation resolves.

I'm not at liberty to disclose much more except that he'll stop ranting when he stops breathing. :cuss:

Kim DT not ranting?!

say it aint so joe.
I found him thru
www.imao.us
another great blog....know thy enemy shirts are great!
Kim is one of the greats & I hope he will be back!

I think the site has a new address

It looks like all the content is still there:

Guys, he wanted to reduce the results of his name on a google search. He asked everyone to de-link his blog, and remove his name. Perhaps we ought to repect his wishes and not talk about this here. They took the blogs down for personal reasons, they are fine, let's leave it at that.

dasmi,

It is nice to hear that ### and his family are fine. Yet the manner in which you express yourself in the remainder of your post is, it seems to me, rather less than nice to us when all we have done was express our concerns in this thread. We wrote about our concerns for his welfare and about how much we liked and will miss his site.
Perhaps we ought to repect his wishes and not talk about this here.
Shame on you for even hinting that anyone here might be being disrespectful, or might have to show some respect, when all were posting to express their concern, respect and feelings of loss.
He asked everyone to de-link his blog, and remove his name.
I guess he missed me and some others I know who frequented his site because we never received any such word from him, this despite you saying that he asked everyone to do so. I would have expected (I guess mistakenly) that he would have notified his loyal readers/contributors in some manner that he was about to shut down. Of course, maybe I missed it but, I was a pretty regular reader and would be quite surprised if that was the case. I signed onto his site one day and it was there, then within a day or couple of days at most, next time I signed on, it was gone. There were no words about anything to do with the shut down or about removing links to his site from my computer. While I do not believe he owed anyone anything, it would have certainly been considerate to have given some warning of the shutdown beforehand (or even a message saying site shut down due to employment - when you tried to pull it up - instead of the this site permanently closed sort of thing) just so as to avoid all the concern it created when it seemingly disappeared from the face of the earth.

Now you say we should listen to you and stop making inquiries about his and his family's well being. You imply you are one of the chosen to receive and spread the word that he wants us all to remove links to his old site from our computers. You say we should show him respect by doing this and by not writing about him or his site here, when in fact we were showing the greatest respect through our concern for him.

I will take it for granted that you actually have some knowledge of what is and what has happened. Yet, I think it is extremely strange that someone in the know like you did not mention the fact that there now appears to be a new Nation of Riflemen website under a new assumed nickname (which I expect is the nickname of ###). Just as when it sut down without notice, I and others whom I know did not receive any type of notice that the site was going back online under a new name either yet; it apparently is back as the http://www.thenationofriflemen.com/nor/index.php/rant/. I guess that is also supposed to part of the big secret but; a big secret like that will never be kept secret if only because people will be posting on this and other websites just to tell their friends that the site is back up under a new name. Furthermore his name will not be removed from sites of those who were opposed to him. It is unavoidable.

As far as I see it you have some set of marbles to say what you said in the manner you expressed it with its obvious implications! I have to wonder whom it is that needs to be somewhat more respectful to others regarding this situation because I know for a fact that I, and the others who have posted in this thread, have only been respectful from day one of this thread!

Sincerely,
Glenn B

Well, just out of curiosity I ran the name of the man in question through my browser. I got to page 25, saw there were still more pages to come (probably many more to come) and stopped there. Who is kidding whom that we should show some respect and not mention the situation here. His name is all over the virtual reality of the Internet. My guess is it would take years to remove it and even years to lessen the chances of getting hits on it if you run it through a search engine. Maybe it is just time to face reality, if someone wants to find his name of the Internet in connection with his rants, political viewpoints, gun essays and the like, it sure is easy. One other thing, it sure wasn't this thread or this site's address that popped in in those first 25 pages of hits on his name either.

Now, having said all of what was in my last two posts, I will ask that the management of this site shut down this thread - just to show even yet more respect for his wishes if only because I enjoyed his site and his emails so darned much.

So what say you THR management, can you shut this one down please?

Best regards,
Glenn B
