Got a pair?

oh, you're talking about pairings? like a Barrett M82A1 SASR paired with a Hi Point 380?

For range fun, I liked my converted Saiga and my CZ PCR. Would make a great 'patrol' pair.

For the type of actual use I'm likely to put anything through, probably my Savage Mark 2 and Ruger 22/45.

I like HAMR with FMJ, foregrip, and suppressor with Tac 45. Perk 1 is lightweight, Perk 2 is fast hands.

In real life I think I've had a primary and secondary twice. AR and P229.

Actually I usually have 3 because of the competition I shoot. AR, Mossberg 930 JM Pro (12 ga), and a Glock 34. Each modded one way or another.

Defensive pair? AR with Eotech and a Glock 19.

For fun at the range my Rossi Model 92 and my Ruger Vaquero, both in .45 Colt, make for a really fun pair to have along.

Good question. I'm going back east to LaCross/Holmen area in WI for deer season this year and there have been black bear and cougar sightings on the private property we will be hunting. My sidearm will probably be my S&W 629. I wanted to take my M1A this year for giggles and kicks but I might go Marlin 336. (shots might be as far as 220 yards but probably more brush hunting this year) A revolver/lever combo makes me smile. If only the handgun was blued and wood with the rifle in the same caliber. It would give me an excuse to get some matching cowboy rig but that would have be for SA revolver. And here I go wanting to drop cash on something I don't need. Thanks, High Road folks, it's all your fault! :D

If it was a serious, knocking around the woods set of kit for a long distance wilderness hike it would be my S&W 620 with .357 mag loaded and a .22 rifle.

I have 200 acres of land in East Texas, about 50% of which is wooded and the rest is pasture.

For all purpose use on this patch of land (deer, coyotes, wild pigs, etc.) I use a Marlin 1894 .44 Magnum with Skinner peep sights and a S&W 629 .44 Magnum with 3" barrel.

This combination will take care of anything I have encountered thus far on my land.

Cal in TX

For summer or general carry, a Winchester 71 and either Ruger 45 or Smith 44. I carry a Browning 86 carbine sometimes also, or a scoped bolt gun. For actual meat hunting, a scoped bolt gun in '06 generally.

The 348 with light round ball loads works fine for small game and grouse, and has some horsepower if bumping into something unpleasant up close.

Mine have nothing whatsoever in common, but when hunting, usually carry a Weatherby Vanguard in .30-06 and a Ruger Blackhawk in .45 Colt.

For defense, I have a .40 caliber Sig SP2022 on the nightstand and a pump 20-gauge with 3" #2 buckshot in the corner.

I think those will handle any deer or intruder I could possibly face.

LOL! Sorry, both were purely in jest and hypothetical to further the thread starter's original point. I own neither of the above - my intent was not to deceive, only to cause others to laugh.

Hunting: whatever long gun I have chosen (for elk/deer/antelope that's a bolt action 30-06 Savage 116 FASK "weather warrior" with a 3x9 x 40mm scope) and a 44 magnum Ruger Vaquero with a 7.5 inch barrel and buffalo horn grips. No matter what hunting rifle, I almost always carry my Vaquero in a cavalry flap cross draw holster.

Competition: 16 inch AR single fixed power optic and a BHP clone, both will have matching Hogue monogrips with palm swells. I have several AR's to choose from, ALL of them have the monogrip.

I don't carry a handgun if I'm carrying a serious rifle for hunting.

A large-bore handgun might be a good idea if you are hunting small game with a .22 in territory where there are dangerous elements that might not respond quickly to being shot with a .22.

Combinations like .357 rifle and .357 handgun carried at the same time just don't make much sense to me. How many rounds were you planning to fire? (i.e. how much ammo do you lug around?) And what is the purpose of dividing it up between two guns?

In my mind, except for .22 rimfire, there are rifle calibers, and there are pistol calibers. I prefer to keep it that way. If I were carrying a .22 rifle, I wouldn't see the point in also carrying a .22 pistol unless the purpose of the outing was primarily just to "shoot guns" as opposed to hunting.
