I had a cheap RDS a while back on my SN, and it broke after less than 2 tubes worth. I got an even cheaper one on a whim, a $40 knock-off that actually has a lot of nice features if it'll work. It has dual color (red and green) with 4 reticle options.

My issue is this: with the reflex sight mounted on a Mesa Tactical rail, even with the medium-sized comb and the stock using the D shim (if I went the wrong direction and should use the A, please correct me, but that seemed to bring it closer) I can't get much of a cheek weld. My lower jaw barely hits the cheek rest when I'm able to look through the sight.

Am I going to just have to ignore the cheek weld in order to use this, or am I missing something?

Mouse pads and tape, or cut up your old closed cell foam ground pad and use that, or whatever source of closed cell foam you can find to experiment with. One of the companies makes commercial stick-on cheek pads in different thicknesses, or at least used to, if you want to go commercial, but the DIY/kludge route will let you figure out how much 'rise' you need in the comb at least.

That's always been the problem IMHO with trying to get optics on shotguns - they're mostly stocked to get your eye down in line with the receiver, not an inch or more higher.
