And Matchmaster is the right name for this great rifle! Let me tell you what I got:

It's an all-original rifle,in excellent condition. Has an excellent bore and stock has only a couple minor dings and is linseed oil-rubbed. Rifle is marked "U.S. Property" in two places on barrel. Stock has Rock River Arsenal cartouche and inspector's marks. Has the Redfield micrometer peep sight and the sight is also in excellent condition.

Heres what it can do:

I shot at 25 yards. I used rolled-up towel rest off the hood of my Jeep. It produced pea-sized 3 shot groups. I put 100 rounds into a penny-sized orange dot sticker with no flyers. This rifle shoots plumb center! I forgot how much fun .22s are! Just for kicks, I opened it up a bit to shoot at a few soda cans at 75 yards and a winner every time! This rifle is a real sweet shooter and a lot of fun. I'll wager this rifle will outshoot most off-the-rack .22s on the market. That Redfield micrometer peep is a real precision instrument. Reminds me of old Starrett vernier calipers and micrometers. They just don't make them like this anymore.

Well, that's quite far removed from a plinker!

An excellent choice, nonetheless. I'm afraid I can't be of any backround or help with that one.;)

I have one of these and it is my favorite .22 and a keeper! I presume yours has a target type heavy stock with a nice big foreend flat bottom . On that flat bottom forend should be a 'rail' a metal strip with tapped holes in it which will take a target sling and hand stop. The butt should be steel , case hardened and checkered or aluminum. The magazines that were available were 10 round and 5 round. I have one of each, they are available time to time on e-bay. The 27" barrel is match quality. The trigger was a crisp 3.5 lbs. I like these guns better than Model 52's but a vintage 40X is real cool too. Than Anshutz 54 is probably more accurate, but I love my 513T as it is rugged and USA all the way.:D

Yeah... they were available through the CMP a few years back. Excellent rifles I know two guys that have them and in both cases, they would probably be just about the last non-heirloom rifle that they would let go.

Last two I've seen were $700 and $800 and I think the CMP had them for about $399. :(
