Gunbroker Dealer makes good!

I won a bid for a "like new" 3mo old Para LDA Carry, and when I got it home and cleaned it, I noticed the ejector was sticking up in the back. After removing the roll pin, and taking a closer look, the frame is wallered out in the front mounting hole. It was to late to get ahold of Para, or the dealer I purchased from, hopefully one of them will fix my new mess:mad: Short of epoxy, I'm lost for a fix. Buyer beware!!!!:fire:

Link to the auction and name of the dealer please. Thanks in advance for the heads up.

That's WRONG, sorry to hear it happened to you.

Most reputable Gunbroker dealers give you a 3-day non-firing inspection period. Was that discussed?

No it wasn't, but It will be now. He has 320 A++++++ ratings, and 1 bad review. Hopefully he's a stand up guy, as he hasn't had time to respond to my emails.

Too soon to do this, he may not have known of the defect.

Para has a lifetime warranty. They'll treat you right, if need be.

This would be nice, but I'm not the original owner.

JD,

Had 2 different, negative situations a year or so ago from some Gunbroker sales. I had to eventually call BATF for help. It got resolved but not without some unecessary drama.

Please give the seller the benefit of the doubt as plan A. Para will probably make it right as plan B.

Please keep us informed.

The dealer wants the pistol back, and will pay for return freight:) Man that was a good price, too bad for me. Not only was the ejector loose, the mags wont seat without a super hard smack, and the first round of both mags would jam half way into the chamber. I'm gonna pass on this Para experiance.:barf:

Give him a chance to make this good. Some of things simply slip though the cracks. I have bought through Gun Broker, and others for several transactions. I was burned once.
The ratings that a seller has is very important to that seller. Therefore, if he has an A+ rating, he probably has earned it. Before you rate him, give him a chance to fix the problem. Then rate him not necessarily on the problem, but on how well he responded. Think of yourself in his postion.

There are bad apples everywhere. Luckily all my experiences have been really good on gun broker. Actually I got the best deal I ever got in my life on a gun there..

Give the guy a chance, with feedback like that I am sure he will make good on it. But thats just me, I still have faith in people.

With the response you have just posted, I can only assume he is a stand-up guy. I would rate him accordingly. Anyone could have had such an error. It's really how the seller responds to a problem that determines his worth to me.

Glad it sounds as if there's hope for this to all work out well. No matter what the medium or the product, it's inevitable that there will be a problem at some point in time. It's how the problems are handled that shows the true character of the seller.
Good luck!

Thanks for the support, guys:)

Getting burned may have been a little hasty, but I needed to vent, and this is as good a place to do it as any:D

Doesn't matter.

Sent Para an email a few weeks ago about some grips, and they responded in a half hour.

Sent them two about this last issue, no reply in two days:rolleyes:

Unfortunately the title to this post says, "Got Burned on Gunbroker".

I would think an administrator would change that. It sounds like the dealer is wanting to make it right and that the original post was too quick to post a negative comment although I understand the feeling of getting burned and wanting to let off some steam.

I have bought dozens of guns off of Gunbroker without a problem. Will that change? Maybe, but all of the people I have dealt with on there have been pretty good.

Yes, getting burned was a little quick (Post #12 says this much) However, a simple field strip, by the dealer, would have have prevented the sale in the first place. When I sell a gun, I give it a cleaning like i'm gonna put it away for 10 years. Spotless, and oiled up. This gun was filthy dirty, and broke, and any inspection at all, would have prevented a big waste of time. The dealer went out of his way to make it right, even paid for my transfer, so i'm not bitter with him. Para, on the other hand, could take a lesson in courtesy, and at least answer my emails.

Good for you. That being the case, I'd change the title of your thread...

I could only change so much:) But I tried:D

Yeah but some of these dealers are very high-volume.

Para update

I'm happy to report that after quite a battle with Para Ord, the Dealer did finally get a new gun from the factory. Para even called the original purchaser of the gun, and accused him of drilling out the ejector hole. What a cop out. I saw the gun back up on GB for sale, this time as factory new, Glad everyone came out ahead on this deal.:) Para finally made good, but I had no chance in he11 getting any warranty being the second owner.

I've had the best & worst on GB. The best was a Mauser HSc that is the pride of my mouse-guns and I felt I "stole it"..The worst: noticed a cracked frame on an older CZ 50 or 52, can't remember since I trashed it quickly..It was after I fired a boxful, so it could of been with me even though I suspect it was there all the time.

My Gunbroker experience has been pretty good.

Purchases: Most have been very good. A few were surprises. I bought a Glock from a pawnbroker. The Glock was very dirty, but in good condition. The surprise was that it had night sights, not in the description. A few others like that as well. Most of the time if I'm not satisfied it's my own fault - failing to ask questions or ignoring the lack of an answer.

Sales: I've had a few deadbeats that didn't pay and had to go though the formal process to get my Gunbroker fee credited. Unfortunately, you have no choice but to deal with NRs, but don't have to give them any breaks. For people with high A+ ratings, I have accepted personal checks and shipped before they cleared. I have offered to take back items the purchasers were unhappy about - got no takers. I had a guy write to me that his state (California) wouldn't allow him to have the gun he had paid for and asked for a refund. I just returned the money - I'm not interested in screwing a customer. I might not do business with people in certain states anymore, though.

Overall, I'm happy. But it's definitely a Caveat Emptor (buyer beware) situation.

Sorry to hear that. Have you ever felt that on a daily basis someone is trying to rip you off? Get a discount on it and take it to a smith and they will braze or spot weld it closed and re-drill the hole for you. Good luck.
