Thirteen years after his death I finally got my Grandfather's model 12-2 38 special. It has some carry wear but still functions perfectly. Plan on using this as my carry just as he did for many years. Here are a couple of pics. Doesn't look like much but I couldn't be happier with it

Would love to have one. Great little pistol. I bet grand dad would be proud.

That good care of the stocks. They are not interchangeable with other K frame models.

I think the M12 better than a M10 because the M12 is an Airweight which makes it a great carry revolver. I'm sure you will carry that revolver for a very long time. What a great memory of your Grandfather to be able to carry his gun just as he did. Very cool... :)

Great revolver. I think the model 12 snubs are some of the best .38 CCW revolvers out there.

I'm on the lookout for a 4" model 12 to add to my collection.

nice usable piece...it's pretty hard to wear out a K frame in .38 spl; for better control, you might opt for a Tyler T-Grip adapter or a wrap around rubber Pachmayr Compaq grip; load her with .38 spl +p Remington 158gr lead seiwadcutter hollowpoints; throw in some Bianchi Speed Strips, HKS speedloaders, or Safariland speedloaders for backup reloads and you got yerself one helluva party

heh i just received one of my grandfathers old S&W M66 2 days ago since his passing this last december. it too will be one of my carry weapons just as it was his.

glad to see it stayed in the family rather then go to someone else.

Staying in the family is no small thing. One bro hasn't fired a single shot thru Dad's guns and it's been 16 years. The other bro sold them all without telling anyone.

Irreplaceable and he didn't even give me a chance to pay his asking price.

Dear Xring,

You know, those old model 12s are just relics. You'd be better off getting a Glock and selling that old revolver to me cheap! :)

kmrcstintn, are you sure he should load that with +P ?

LBS

awesome pistol and memory....congratulations. I wanted my granfathers L.C Smith 12 Gauge, but being the youngest grandchild I was to far down the totem poll.....I know it went to my cousin but sure if he still has it.
