Congrats
Now if you want that promotion to count TAKE the wife/kids or significant other out and spend that dough on her/them to make up for the time away from home. Maybe even to the range!

There are those folks who beleive a brides wedding ring should cost three months worth of the grooms wages.

That seems fair your new pay grade times three months for a new gun(s).

It a darn good thing ,I think, that my wife didn't buy into all of that big assed diamond stuff....other wise I'd still be single......... ;)

A custom engraved Purdy...you pick the caliber...engraved with "Lenny" on the side...[So if you ever decided to give it away to say, a guy named "Lenny" who is a retired E7...you could er...give it to a nice guy I know!]

And a nice pointer...from a good Tennessee breeder...to go with the shotgun!

Maybe a Yost 1911 would fit the bill. I have been seriously conteplating one anyway. :D

Funny thing is, the wife met me at the door last night with a hug and the pay chart.

She wanted to know how much she gets.

Three months? How long ago did you get married???

The diamond communists these days are saying six months!
Guess I shoulda got married way-back-when...when I didn't make any money.

The ring I gave my wife cost me about $1000. Had I followed the 3 month "rule" I'd have spent about $13,000 considering the OT I was getting at the time. My wife would've slapped me silly if I'd spent $13k on a dang ring.

'Course I did propose to her while on vacation in New Zealand. But that entire vacation still only cost us about $4500. Even including that I didn't even get half way to what I was "supposed" to spend.

When we got married (3 yrs ago) we had over 100 guests, with full catering and lots of micro-brew beer and still spent only $6000 (of which we were on the hook for $1000 - her mom and father each kicked in $2500). Even including the entire about cost of the wedding (not just what we spent) I'm still short of the $13k.

I've been married for 20 years. She's been on me to get her an anniversary ring.

I promised her one at 10 years and havent gotten it yet. :what:

I agree about a nice 1911. However, your spouse has been there for you, and you might consider also getting something equally special for her...how about his and hers matching 1911's, heeheee.
