well me and my good friend took out his fn Five Seven yesterday at the range. before yesterday it had 50rds through it and after yesterday the rd count was up to 200rds of both the 20 something grain and the 40gr v-max. there have been no malfunctions at all.

Trigger:
the trigger was pretty light it seemed to me, and there were a few times that i was suprised when the gun went off. very nice trigger. though it is a nice trigger, it is different and something to get used to, the reset and the pull and such.

Safety:
i really like the placement of the safety, right above the trigger, where it can be used with the trigger finger. and it is ambi which is really good considering he is a lefty and i am a righty.

Mag Release:
i like the fact that the magazine release is able to be changed from one side to the other, and i was hapy to see that he moved it over to the right side of the frame which is my preference as i like to drop mags with the trigger finger.

i had to get used to the mag release being new it was a little tuff, but with a little practice it did great. and i was easily able to manipulate it.

Sights:
my favorite for stock sights, 3 dot combat sights that are rear adjustable for windage and elevation. he had it zeroed out to 25yds for a poa/ poi set up.

Shooting Impressions:
after approx 50rds of the 40grv-max:
recoil what recoil it was so soft shooting i couldn't believe it. especially when you hear the gun report, it is loud!!!! i didn't shot as great or nearly as good as i would have liked to but it was fun to shoot and accurate. my friend really proved that as he was really good with it and shot that gun better than any other that i have seen him shoot. he shoots better with that than the usp .40

Conclusion:
i like the adjustable 3 dot sights, i like the trigger, i like the reversable mag release, i like the placement of the safety, i loe how soft it shoots, and the accuracy is there i just need to spend more time with it.

the only down side is that the ammo is so expensive and the gun itself is quite pricy but if you have the money and you want one than by all means get one. i think you will be happy with it.

That is one gun I know I have no need for, but am intrigued by it none the less. One day ... after those lottery winnings come in...;)

I would rather have a PS90 over an IOM, but they are fun to shoot. I like how light the pistols is, but I find the grip to be a little wide for my hands. It is definately a fun pistol to have in the collection. Even reloading is expensive because you cannot buy virgin brass for the 5.7, so you must buy factory ammo and collect the brass to reload.

yeah i was wondering if there was any reloading data out yet. and i figured reloading wouldn't help you out much either as the components are proballyt hard to come by like you said.

i to like the ps 90 but still yet that is alot more money we are talking about there. i do like the fact of a 50rd magazine though!

Over on fiveseven.com we have made up a lot of loads for the 5.7x28mm.
90% of the loads were developed by handloaders in fiveseven pistols.
We have made loads useing every thing form 33gr TNT HP to 62gr M855's.
Loading componets are dirt cheap, any .224 or .223 bullet can be used.
There are about a dozen powers used. Never use Unique.
Small rifle primers are all ways used. Mag primers mostly.

Reloads are cheap. About $7 a box with Hornady V Max bullets and cheaper with less expensive bullets.
Trouble is finding brass.

Also there is a small startup ammo company re-manning the 5.7 on once fired brass. Until that is we can place an order large enough for virgin brass to get Fiochie's attention

Yes, it is a nice gun. I've been tempted to get one a few times to go with my PS90.

Come check out the FN Forum if ya wanna talk to other 5-7 owners :)
