If there is any question about how Texans roll, check out this article. Most places the rifle shooter (aka the victim) would have been hung out to dry.

No charges have been filed so far in a fatal shooting earlier this week on Interstate 45.

Houston police said a man killed one man and wounded two others after they fired at him while driving in the 9400 block of North Freeway about 12:20 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers were called to a gas station in the 7400 block of North Shepherd because three males had been shot. Investigators determined that the men had been shot at the freeway and drove to the Shell station.

According to police, they were driving a white Pontiac Grand Prix when they fired gunshots at the driver of a truck. Then they exited the freeway at West Gulf Bank.

The truck driver stopped on the West Gulf Bank overpass and got a rifle from his back seat for protection, police said. As he looked over the side of the freeway to see the license plate of the Pontiac, he saw the car's driver's side window open and feared the suspects would shoot at him again.

He fired several shots at the Pontiac, hitting the passenger who was sitting in the front seat and another man who was in the back seat.

The front-seat passenger, 17, was taken to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital, where he later was pronounced dead.

The Ponitac's driver, who was cut in the face by flying glass and shrapnel, and rear seat passenger were treated at the hospital. Their conditions are not immediately known.

A 19-year-old man who was passenger in the car ran away, but was later found and questioned.

Did you hear about Navy Seal HERO Marcus Latrells dog got shot and he chased them at 100+ calm as could be on the phone to 911?

Told the 911 lady he had two Berettas in the truck.

We all belive in talking things out. And this guy in Houston simply let his rifle do his talking for him.

You truly do have to love Texans!

In 1966 when Charles Whitman went on his University of Texas at Austin shooting rampage, after it was over, they found nearly 400 bullet holes in the clock tower around where he was shooting from.

The majority of which, came from rifles in the hands of private citizens! :D

Here's another story from a town just south of San Antonio.

"Atascosa County authorities don’t anticipate filing criminal charges against a business owner who shot and killed a 25-year-old man Wednesday night during a failed robbery attempt.

Meanwhile, they continue to search for another gunman who fled from Larry’s Game Room near Poteet after his accomplice was fatally shot.

David Soward, chief deputy of the Atascosa County Sheriff’s Department, said the two gunmen entered the business, located on Texas 16, at about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, seeking to rob it.

Soward said one of the gunmen carried a shotgun, and the other a pistol. He said the one with the pistol fired one round into the ceiling, ordering a female employee to the ground as the other robber pointed a shotgun at her.

It was then that business owner Larry Horn walked out of the back room with a .40-caliber semi-automatic weapon, startling the robbers, according to the chief deputy.

Soward said the robber with the shotgun, later identified as Carlos Valero, turned to aim at Horn, but that the business owner fired first, striking him in the head and killing him instantly.

The other suspect then ran out the door."

Some people just need killin'. I don't mean to make light of the subject, but that saying does have merit.

Evidence of how firearms protect law abiding citizens lives

Bet this one won't make the front page of any newspapers.

That's the problem, the good news isn't reported on nearly as much.

But it's still good news.

That's a heart breaker, having 2 yellow labs, and knowing the way the justice system works in FL, I don't think I would have had that kind of self control. Shooting at my dogs is like shooting at my family.

Wow, someone got some use out of a "truck gun"!

I'm glad you started this thread: I've been thinking recently "do I really need to carry a rifle in my truck anymore?"

Looks like it will be staying in my vehicle after all.

Thanks for the story - what a great reminder.

Take care,
DFW1911

This is good to see. No one should have to take that kind of *****. You shoot at me, I'm gonna shoot back!
