Alright, all of this talk about your arsenal is well and good if you are going to hole up- and if that is the case then you've got 1,000 different guns and 9 million rounds of ammo to defend the castle with.

Now you are flushed out, seconds only to grab one gun and some ammo and hit the road.

What are you taking?

Hmmm...I'll want something reliable, concealable and easily fed.

Probably my P99. Really hard to leave a 1911 at home, though.

If it's a really bad scenario, I might leave the house with only one gun, but you can bet I'll acquire a long gun pretty quick.

Well, in thoery, the best one gun would be a long gun, but I think, like most out there, I would grab my handgun, as it is the handiest. In my case my Norinco .45 is always close by.

Need more information:

Flushed out of my house by what? An oncoming fire or storm? Hundreds of looters (apparently lost) burning me out? Aliens from Area 51 in UN uniforms come to confiscate my guns? How long am I planning to be gone? Is my car damaged? Is my roommate home? My neighbors?

Would I have to leave one of the two guns that is usually on my person at home?

I keep my AR-15 and 6 loaded mags stored in a soft-side case.

But I'd already have my G21 with me, so would that count as two?

I agree with Bob, I would already have my G29 and an extra mag on me. It would depend if concealability is an issue or not.

I guess - thru shere ''proximity'' .... it'd be the P95 .... simply cos .. it and I .... live together 24/7 ..... so it is ''there''.

Given a smidgeon more time . who knows . it'd be hard deciding! My Smith N frame Mod 27 could be tempting . with a few speedloaders ... there again ..... maybe the AK .... hmmm ..... decisions!!:p

Won't get far in the suburbs of LA with an M1A. Not very concealable.

Probably my Beretta since I shoot it the best, have a crapload of mags and can..umm...probably find more? :D

I would also have a gun (sort of it is a Kel-Tec P32) on me already but being true to the question of only taking one gun, I would leave the little .32 at home and grab my Beretta 92 with 3 hi caps and 3 10 rounders and a whole bunch of ammo. I think I have about two cases of ammo. I would only take about 500 rounds at most. If I really need more than this, I'm in more trouble than I want to stick around for and I will just go to some place that I don't have to shoot so many people.

Probably whichever USP is serving as my housegun...currently, it's my compact 9. During the LA riots, I had to go into LA and pick my wife up from work. I watched them set palm trees on fire on the 101 fwy  My P7M8 went with me that night and for the 2 weeks I took her to and from work.

I think it's obvious 2dogs senario is very simple. You get 1 damn gun, what is it?

I say a lever gun in a ranger or guide configuration complete with sling. Probably a 357Mag or 44Mag for maximum rounds held. That or a M1 carbine with a 30rounder.

Lightweight and a lot of firepower with reasonable accuracy would be my main objectives.

:D

HK91 that is already in a case with 20 loaded clips if there is no worries about concealability. :D

Rem 870 ...

I figure that if I 'gotta run', then whatever is chasing me must not be too far behind ...

Marshall,

Really?

I get one gun for what?

What am I going to be doing with it?

Fending off looters? Joining the militia and fighting Martians in Black Helicopters? Living off the land for six months? Using it for self-protection while I stay at a Holiday Inn and wait for the insurance adjuster to show up?

I don't know about you, but I'd pick a different gun for most of those jobs.

Here, try this one:

You're going hunting and you can only take one gun. What do you take?

His scenario was: you are flushed out of your home, you get one gun!

What you do after that is up to you, your wanting to set the conditions, there were none.

If I am going hunting and get one gun, I am taking a semi auto shotgun in 26" improved cyl and chokes, with shells and slugs.

:D

Tamara: Depends on what I'm hunting. Intergalactic Aliens in furry bigfoot costumes? The elusive snipe? Flying monkeys? Pink elephants? :p

Well, I'm wearing my Glock 17 so I'll have that, obviously.

I have 1,000 guns to choose from?

I'm SURE that if I owned 1,000 guns, at least one of them would be an M249 with a few 250 round belts. I'd take that...

Deep concealable handgun so I can sidle up to one at a time of the rest of you who are hefting the heat I might want for whatever other conditions I find after I'm flushed out. You're going to need my leadership....

Yeah, but by WHAT?

No one's setting conditions. If it happened, you'd know why you had to leave. That would ABSOLUTELY have some sort of bearing on what I'd take.

Okay...

I'm flushed out of my home.

I take the HK91.

It's my most expensive gun and I wouldn't want it burned up in the forest fire that flushed me out of my home.

For some reason, however, I stop at the top of the stairs and empty my pockets and purse of the guns I'm already carrying.
