I think this is the right forum for this; I was restoring my
mental inventory at one of my long time favorite gunshops
- La Mesa Fine Guns - East of San Diego and I met two very
nice/interesting reenactors. We chatted for almost an hour
(I’m a Civil War buff, myself). Anyway, they invited my to
come up to watch the CW re-enactment up in Huntington
Beach (South of Long Beach). Here’s a pic of their outfit:
I’ve only seen one other here in California - that was up in Vista -
and it was most enjoyable! Skirmishers, cavalry, lots of cannon
and reenactors of Lincoln, ‘Bobby Lee,’ Grants, etc. ... matter
of fact, I had lunch with them!
Huntington Beach is supposed to be the best - so we’re going up
to check it out.
Oh, one of those soldiers is a woman
- in the first photo. Just
as in the original war there were women who weren’t satisfied
with their ‘girlie girl’ status and joined their hubbies in uniform.
Most got away with it - fought in all the great battles whose
histories are 'written in blood and steel' (dramatic, huh?
)!
