Great Pocket Revolver News!

The little-mentioned Casull Double Action revolver (with a folding trigger, no less) is being chambered in .32 Caliber! I don't know whether it will be chambered in .32 ACP, .32 Colt New Police (a.k.a. .32 S&W Long) or .32 H&R Magnum, so please, don't ask! Apparently it will be a 5-shot, stainless steel affair, of robust construction, tipping the scales at a svelte 8 ounces!

I saw it listed in an "Annual" publication. MSRP is $395.00.

I like the idea!

The CA 2000 has been around for five years. It looks similar to the "Velodog" revolvers of the 19th century, with a hammer-block safety on the handgun's right side. Pretty clever, eh?

Wow--this is just about exactly what I would call a perfect pocket revolver.

.32 H&R mag has the same basic ballistics as mid-range .38 Special, btw.

It does not have the momentium of the 38 with +p loads and its also a smaller load starting out so its expansion and penetration is less. Personally I view the 38 snub as barely adiquate and would not go smaller.

Agreed. But if they built it in 38 I would give it a look. Its a good company. Personally I would like to see a small 5 shot hammerless 9mm built with a scandium frame.

The problem is when you start building .38 size frames it's no longer a true pocket revolver. Even the ultralight scandiums are too bulky to be tossed into a pocket. Compared with other genuine pocket pieces such as the wee Berettas and other .22's, .25's and .32 ACP's, the .32 H&R is a notch more potent.

I guess we disagree. I find that the Smith J frame centenial guns are just perfect for pocket carry in a pocket holster. I have had no problems using this combo on the job on the very few UC assignements I did with jeans and slacks and even suit pants.

Well to each his own. I find J-frames print too much on a tight pocket and drag too heavy in a loose one. They're OK for rare use, but if you drop one in a pocket day after day my experience is they dig their own escape route.

Dumb question

I apologize for the dumb question, but why do guns like these have no trigger guard? The Derringers and the NAAs don't have trigger guards. It seems like a safety hazard to me.

I have seen a few Derringer types that do. There was a guy that came to
the Big Dallas gun and knife show on a regular basis, and sold them ranging
from .38 to 410/.45. I think he made them himself. Very solid feeling. He was
based out of Texas.... gotta see if still I have his pamphlet.

Wait, now that I think about it, he was the only one I've seen.

These revolvers have a "safety" on the right-hand side of the frame. If you call Freedom Arms @ 1-307-883-2468, they'll give you the "50-cent-tour" of the CA 2000.
