Grip Tape on this CZ???

Anyway - What kind of grip tape is that??? How good is the stuff? How sticky is it - ie does it stay? Will it leave permanent gunky stuff on the frame? And lastly - how well does it stick to already-present vertical serrations ( Like those found on my PCR )?

I've used the 3M grip tape. the stuff they put on stairs. you get it in strips and cut to fit your pistol. It works great and comes off clean. I have it on the backstrap of my CZ and it hasn't come off for over 6 months of use. I got my tape over at Home Depot. I've also used it to cover the serrations on the front of my USP and it hasn't come off. It didn't work so good on teh rear serrations because of the curvature of the backstrap and the serrations did not provide enough contact for the tape. it should work fine on the the vertical serrations.

You can also get it at your local skateboard shop. It's very durable stuff that should stay on for a long time. If you don't like, be very careful taking it off of your P-01; I have heard of one or two CZ owners removing some of the black poly from the frame trying to get the tape off.

Haven't tried it on guns with vertical serrations so I don't know about that, but I can say it works wonders in the grip department. I use it on my CZ 75 SA and my 85 Combat. I shoot both in IDPA and IPSC and need the extra grip. After a while it wears down and you will have to strip it off, but that isn't a problem. It doesn't harm the finish and the sticky residue can be removed with a bit of WD 40.

I used the skateboad tape on both my 75b and the P220 I just sold and I will use it on the Kimber Royal I just bought. It works really well.

I use the 3m brand stair tape from Home Depot or West Marine.It's available in a wrinkle or sandpaper finish.The sandpaper type is much better for your grip but would also stick to clothing so not good for a carry pistol.I have had great success using either a hair dryer or one of those long tipped butane fire starters to warm it up for better curve forming.Also seems to make it stick a bit better.I've also found that by carefully placeing 2-3 layers I can make very effective changes to overall grip shape.Get yourself a couple feet of both types in the 4 inch width and start playing.Good luck!

Grip Tape

I use grip tape on the front strap of a lot of my pistols. It works well for me and I seldom have to re-do it. When I do, I just peel it off, wipe the front strap with IPA and apply a new piece. It really helps on the front strap of my 1911s that do not have checkering. Here's a picture of three of my CZs with grip tape on them.

I used grip tape on guns that are otherwise too smooth to get a good grip. I put it on several guns and it seems to work well. It lasts a long time and doesn't peel off as long as you don't get too curvy with it. I wish I had known about this before I slod my Ruger P-95, I liked the gun but it has a super smooth grip that seems insane. I didn't want to add a Hogue slip on because I didn't want to increase the grip width so I just sold it.

I put some skate board tape on the front strap of my pre-agreement Smith & Wesson model 41. I liked it so well, I put it on the stocks. It doesn't stick well to curves, but it's such a help, I've ordered some aluminum oxide, and will glue the stuff to the stocks. Pictures to follow in a couple weeks.

Hey Gary!

That's my CZ 75 B man I put on the skateboard tape almost immediayely after purchasing it.It's been there for four years now and it works very good for me.I used hairdryer on the sticky side before putting it on and it's been there since then.I also heard it can be problem for the polycoated CZs if it needs to be removed....tips on that was, to use hairdryer to peel it off.

3M stair tape will also work too but, skateboardtape is thinner(an advantage for the curves) and has a finer corn compare to 3M stair tape.

I have no idea how well it'll stick on the serrations on your PCR but, you could use it on the non-serrated part.
