Hi,

My husband is planning on going on an Alaskan grizzly hunt and is wondering about good handloads for .300 win mag, and 44 mag (back up gun).

Anyone have experience with this? And especially, do you know of some chart of information for such extra heavy handloads that we can look at?

An hour's search on the internet yielded nothing.

Thank you!

Sarah

Sarah,
Basic rule of thumb for the big bruins is HEAVIEST BULLETS (designed for deep penetration) available in that caliber loaded at top SAFE load level. I built a custom .338 Win Mag once upon a time for big bears but never got around to going. Good luck.

Good shooting and be safe.

i haven't hunted bears, but if you strike out here, go do a little reading on the forums at www.24hourcampfire.com - there is a large contingent of alaskan hunters who hunt bears all the time. they can surely point ya in the right direction in all things bear hunting.

best of luck to you and your husband.
