OK, finally got pics for y'all

I'll have a range report from him soon... he's slow on the computer ;-)

Anyways, he loves the rifle. I just hope he gets plenty of time to shoot it before the ol' health gets worse.

He wrote me a card, which is rare cuz the guy can barely write... saying it was the best gift he's ever recieved.

Thanks bunches, THR, for makin it possible. Specially the seller, stickjockey.

That's awesome man! Those are the type of memories that last forever. Guns and range time are one of those bonding things that people who aren't in the sport just can't understand.
I'd like to get my grandpa a new rifle and take him shooting. He's hunted all his life, shot expert in the military, etc. but he'll be 90 soon and has had to pass up on going hunting the past 2 years because of his health. I'll have to try to get him back behind the trigger soon.

Grandpa don't look too happy in that photo of himself. Or was that the look he gave the enemy back in his fightin' days?? :D

Heh... yeah. He mighta been tryin to look tough, but gramma reports he's been exhausted recently because of takin care of her, she's had a rough spell medically.

thefitzvh, Fantastic! Good job!

Similar story here, I got a Garand for my dad in '96 at Christmas....he retired Army in '67 and I saved for a while to do it.

He lit up when he opened up that box, and boy did he have fun, 70 year old man (he was on the Army shooting team in '60-'61) and Infantry the rest of the time, He loved the Garand! We went out to the range many times, yelling at my brothers and I, showing us how to shoot it "right".

Many good times with dad.

Last year he gave it back to me...he's almost 80 now and his eyes aren't what they used to be and he's getting a bit frail. But still a fiesty old warhorse.:)

You did good, real good.;)
