I looked at some $900.00 AK's today at a gunshop...couldn't believe my eyes. I don't know much about them, but what makes a new Arsenal AK with a stamped receiver worth double any of the others???
 
They are better weapons.

Arsenal Inc. (Nevada) has spent a fair amount of money to build the side folding stock and the fit and finish are far better than most AK's. They also have more USA made parts so you can use foreign made magazines without worry. Are they more reliable? Since most AK's are EXTREMELY reliable I'd say they are as reliable as they should be, you sometimes ger WASR's that choke, but most AK's are extremely reliable. Are they more accurate? Probably a little bit, but the AK isn't a tack driver anyway, if you want to punch tiny little holes in paper - buy an AR.

There are plenty high dollar AK's out there, Arsenal Inc. isn't alone, but they are pretty proud of them.
 
quality! they have had some issues with canted sights though. very nice rifles. think 990 is high look at the milled verison they sell lol
 
I don't see why anyone would want one, IMO. The point of the AK was to be a cheap and good-enough battle rifle, not a very expensive and good enough rifle. But, whatever floats your boat.
 
Arsenal's today aren't as good as Arsenal's of yesterday. An SA-95 would cost much less than the current offerings and, while it is neutered, it is, in my opinion, a better AK.

in world terms the Bulgarian AK is much cheaper to purchase than a Russian made AK, but in the US its backwards lol the Saiga is cheap and the Bulgarian model is really expensive.

The AK is a pretty rugged weapon, but if made poorly enough (or abused and neglected enough) it will malfunction. If I were going to be betting my life on an AK, I'd prefer a top end one to a bottom end one.
 
I think it's kinda "special" that they're on the rack next to 2 Saigas, one in 7.62 and the other in .308, both for $369.00.
 
What brand is as close to the original ak47 that russia produced so many years ago?
Looking for the same reliability and longevity with a stamped reciever not milled.

Just curious
 
the saiga of course its built at the ishvek(sp) factory in russia lol its just churched up and all the evil features are removed so it can be imported in to the US.

the Aresnal is built here in the US off bulgarian parts from Aresnal of Bulgaria The Aresnal looks more like a modern day AK, but you can take a 360$ saiga and change out the gas block and front sight base do some mods to the receiver and you have a full blown russian AK (normally with bulgarian parts)
