Just saw The Returner a Japanese alien invasion/time travel flick.

Cool movie overall worth watching just for itself. Plus it has uber-cute babe Anne Suzuki in it.

Anyway on to the guns..

For the hero it is all about the 1911. His are blued with walnut grips. I think he carries two but the the fight scenes were fast paced so I am not sure. A lot of excellent close-ups of the gun but not close enough to determine make. Though it could just be a prop gun made by the prop department.

His enemy, a psychaotic mobster, carries a stainless revolver with a 6" bbl with full lug in a caliber that looks big but it is never referenced so I do not know for sure.

In the scenes set in the future the human soldiers carry some ergos that might be that new thing out of FN as well as an assortment of other weapons.

And in the future scenes the alien tactics look good. They attack as teams and utilise good movement even though they obviously outclass the humans.

The mobster has a "Ninja Squad" that is armed with HKMP5s and Ar-15s they also show better movement than your average movie thug/gunner though it does not help them much.

The tactical stuff was better than most movies but not real sharp but still points for going in the right direction.

The hero carries his primary on his right side just behind his hip and in one scene got that gun out really fast. It was like the actor had a lot of experience with that move. The jacket got pushed back and the shirt was lifted and the gun ready to fight with in mere moments. I was impressed. It didn't look edited together, it was one fluid motion.

Scenes where someone has a lot of guns hidden away, ready for sale always give me a warm glow. This movie has such a scene. A filing cabinet piled to the top with weapons of various types, all wrapped up and and ready to go.

The action scenes are great and there is one bit that invloves a Bouncing Betty type mine loaded with flechettes. Don't know if that sort of mine is real but it looked cool in the movie.

I hope this has enough gun content to avoid being locked.

I only watched the beginning of that because it was in Japanese, and Japanese is not one of the languages I speak, but I noticed that the girl time-traveler's electronic laser-type gun has "Wesson & Smith" stamped into it and not "Smith & Wesson" when she checks the charge and finds it low.

Need more Westerns with classic weapons like the Colt Dragoon percussion revolvers, 1873 Colt SAA .45's, Sharps rifles, Smith & Wesson Schofield revolvers, 1866 Winchester "yellowboy' carbines, Remmington Rolling Block rifles, and the odd percussion Plains Rifle here and there.

Treylis, on the DVD there is an area you can go to and change the language.

Sixgun, So you are looking for an alien invasion/time travel/ western? Cool.

The Japanese read from right to left. :D
