Gun in glove compartment, KY,TN,GA,FL

Is it legal without a permit to keep a gun in your glovebox/take into your hotel romm when traveling in these states (no ccw) thanks
 
go to handgunlaw.us and they have up to date answers to the laws in question. florida is legal as long as the box can close, georgia it had to be in a holster(laws change)
 
As kanook said, use handgunlaw.us for specifics. I know it is legal in FL to carry a weapon in a glove compartment. In TN it is illegal without a Handgun Carry Permit (or the equivalent from any other state).
 
Ok, I looked it up on that site thanks for the link it was perfect.

Another ques- Anybody think I may need it in Miami? Hows the area around the AP?

Miami? Nope--there is no crime in Miami. :evil:

What state are you from? Do you have a carry permit in your home state? If so, check USACarry.com to see if FL honors your state's permit. FL has reciprocity with many other states. If not, while you can legally carry in the glovebox or center console, you will not be able to take your weapon with you when you leave your car (except to go to your hotel room), and I personally wouldn't want to leave a loaded firearm in an unoccupied car anywhere around Miami.
 
I'm transporting an animal from St. Kitts to KY I'm flying into Miami Intl. I will just be driving through, may have to spend a night in FL(maybe even Miami depending on Flt/customs). My Father is meeting me at the AP and I was wondering if he should bring down a gun. Niethier one of us ccw me bc I don't have a permanent address in the US currently(though I do own a home) and him bc he's too lazy to take the class(his words)
 
Gotcha! I think it depends on what you plan to do in Miami. As in most places, the airport isn't in the best part of town. I certainly wouldn't go leaving a firearm in a car around there. If you are planning on high-tailing it out of town as soon as you land, that is a fish of a different color. . . . :evil:

Me, I almost always have a gun when I travel, but having a couple of carry permits helps with that.
 
Kentucky is an open carry state. You may also carry a firearm in the glovebox of an auto without it being considered a concealed weapon. Courts have interpreted the term "glovebox" as the traditional glovebox in the dash of the passenger's side. It does not include a map compartment or center console compartment. Carrying a concealed weapon without a CCL is normally a misdemeanor.

You can't have a gun even in a car when on school property unless you have a CCL and this only allows you to store a gun in the car out of sight. A violation of this is a felony.
 
I practice don't ask/don't tell.

Some places I go they'd have a cow about my truck gun, but what they don't know won't hurt me!
 
Be careful, and pay close attention to the signs when leaving MIA. There are a couple of abrupt lane changes required to make sure you get to the highway. Miss one, and it becomes easy to end up in a less-than-desirable neighborhood.
The last time I was down there (go there once or twice a year), I did not have a carry permit. I don't think I even had a piece in my vehicle. If you want Dad to bring one, just have him leave it secured in the vehicle, preferably in the trunk if there is one. Then, discreetly move it to the passenger compartment and into a position within the limits of the law when you return to the vehicle. Remember that, while making the move from the trunk to the passenger compartment, you would technically be in violation of the CCW/CCF law for a moment or two. Discretion is a must!
